As with the Boxster, I wish it was available with the 3.8L M97 engine

If only they had a 330hp version.
Porsche should rename the Carrera S a Carrera, and make the current S with Power kit the new S, giving room for a 330 HP Cayman, and a 310 hp Boxster.

I wouldn't call it underpowered at all. It feels a bit faster than the Boxster S that you sold, but with a stiffer structure. It's really solid, no creaks or groans like the one's I get in the turbo. It's very well balanced, handling wise, understeer is not that much pronounced and oversteer can be induced if you put it in "sport" mode, turn off PSM or do both. By the way, I got saddled with the worst OEM tire, Continatals. Hated them on a prior 996 and begining to hate them on the Cayman.
Let's talk about power. Power-wise, it feels as fast as a 3.6 996 carrera, at least to my un calibrated behind . I didn't take mine to the redline but had a go at it in the dealer's demo and it felt sweet. The car loves to be revved and never once did it feel inadequate. I need to break mine in and then give a better report on power. I'm limiting myself to 4000rpm for now.
I'll try to see if someone in a 3.6 996 or even a 997 is intersted in comparing how fast/slow the Cayman is. We sort of had a go at it but it was unfair as I was in my turbo S and the dealer was in the Cayman. I thought that he had his handbrake on!
watt, if you want speed, you're better off with the Zo6. This car was never meant to dominate the super car roster nor set track records. The whole purpose of its being is a clever marketing excercise by Porsche. They saw a gap in the market for people like me, who never were cobriolet fans and wanted a tin-roofed Boxster.
So does it need power? Sure it does, but so do all showroom-stock cars. Enjoy it for what it is, a beautiful car and a superb driving experience. I'm keeping it untill the Panamara comes out and only then would I consider trading it in.

dude, did you really buy this for your wife? Or did you buy her a car you would like driving?
You have good taste in cars. I've been lusting after a gransport for a while now.
I read that the CaymanS engine is deceptively subtle and you find yourself shifting later (6,000 rpm v. 4,000). I'm not sure I like "the sound" of that.

Is it that obvious?:P
Thanks, the Maserati is a totally different driving experience than the Porsche.
Running in is hell, especially with the Cayman, it loves to rev.
