Will the Cayman have the engine visible through the back glass?
I keep seeing the test mules of the Cayman with massive amounts of plastic on the rear window area of the car. Do you think this is to hide the fact it will have the engine visible through the rear glass like a F-360/430? I personally would love to see that!

After looking at the top of my Boxster S motor with the covers off, who cares if you can see it or not? Not much to look at.
It used to be that when you looked under a hood you saw all kinds of cool metal stuff that just begged to be jogled and tweeked. There was all kinds of machined surfaces and room to reach in and grab stuff and pull and grunt and say "OK try it now". Now there's just plastic ducts and wires and sensors and crap that you just know that if you nudge it too hard it'll require 10 guys in white lab coats with super computers to diagnose it.
I say leave it covered, it's about as interesting to look at as the inside of my HVAC unit.

True, the engine compartments are very boring these days. And I am sure the car will have a hatchback for some luggage space. I was thinking, though, that if it was visible through the window it would mean less carpet, insulation, etc. The noise from the engine behind you seperated with just a little window would be grand. I also think it would make it appear more performance oriented. "We could have put lots of useful space but decided to keep the car light and a little less practical because we want it to be light." Yes, its kind of gimmicky, but it would really be kind of cool and definitely set the car apart from the 911 and boxster.
