It beat the linked Boxster S times.

That may be true, but think about it...the Boxster S is supposedly under powered. The 986 S lowest time of 8:27 and the 987 S time of 8:18 can give you an idea of the handling prowess and driving experience. This results in a more of a driver's car, hence a better track car. The SLK 55 is a small, high powered, luxury cruiser. Drive a Boxster S and you will see what I mean. Your whole comparison was with a Cayman S and I really don't see them in the same category.

Default Does anyone know the ring time for the 296hp C2?

Cayman S had a Nurgburgring lap time of 8:11 with Walter Rohrl( 4 seconds faster than a standard 997, and 7 seconds faster than the 987S).
