Default Can a 981 Cayman be jacked at this point?


Is this a safe spot to bring the rear up before putting it on jackstands?

Follow the bracing to the rear, the two 16mm or so fasteners a few inches apart is a good jack point. What you circle above could work, I just have no experience with that point.

Fabspeed (and maybe others) sells a jack point adapter to make it easier to jack from the bracing point, done it on both of our Caymans.

I would not take a chance and jack it in the middle. Here's what I've done for jacking it from the rear on my 981. The lift point is just forward of the sway bar mounting and under a sturdy strut on each side. I also used this approach on my 987. The bar came from a local steel scrap yard and I found a machine shop to cut the holes. If doing this again, I would put the bolts holding the wood a little further out so there's less chance of interfering with the car's bracing. This works so easily, I really wish I could do it from the front as well.
