I just bought a 2011 Cayman S. I am so excited! I pick her up on Tuesday. 6 Speed manual, black on black. Can't wait!

Probably my favorite design, 987.2. long live the manuals! Enjoy! Will this be your daily driver?

Yeah, had to be a manual! It won't be my daily driver. I'm lucky and have a 3 minute bike ride to work. I've also got a 91 Jeep Cherokee for off road fun, and an F-150 to haul stuff. The truck sees the most miles.

I've been doing lots of research and reading, and am trying to find any potential weak points for the 3.4L motor in the 2011 Cayman. No IMS bearing to worry about, so that's great. Is bore scoring an issue? Any other hot spots to watch out for?

The DFI 9A1 in the 987.2 is generally bulletproof. Porsche corrected most of the weak points of the M97 in the 9A1.
Corrected oiling system issues with variable demand pump, closed deck design helped head gasket and bore scoring issues, stronger rods/bolts, no IMS, improved exhaust flow.
The '09 had weak DFI pumps which were replaced on a Porsche program to the -06 (06 revision not year) which are on all the '10 forward cars.
They still all have what could be considered maintenance item water pumps and thermostats which should be done every 50K if you want to never be surprised by them.
There was also a revision in the coil packs to the current -07 versions. I have 10,000+ track miles on mine with a raised 8000rpm limiter and it's bulletproof. No oil burning, zero power loss. Stout engines.
