Default Mixed/used camlifters

Hi,

While I was rebuilding the 987c 2.7l Cayman engine, I managed to tilt the engine while camshaft was out so that the lifters fell out on the floor. Bummer...
According to common practice, you should never mix used lifters as they should go into the same bores they from. I do not know of any way to try and identify which bore each lifter belongs to.

However, some people on various forums have mixed up the lifters and ended up fine. But I am quite weary of trying my luck on the intake variocam lifters which do not rotate.
I have also seen people buying and selling used intake lifters online.

Has anyone any experience with buying used lifters or running into the same problem?
