A few years back i did the speckled floor thing. (Hired it done. Not a DIY thing.) I like it mostly, but if I drop a screw on the ground it takes several days to find it.

I thought about those plastic tiles, as they look awesome, but what's it like if you drop something small? Would it fall between the little slats in the tiles?

Yep. Most things are lost unless you can pry up a couple tiles or use a hook to maybe fist out out.
