Lots of great input here! Thanks to all! I just wanted to let everyone know that I decided to just upgrade the rotors to GiroDisc for now w the yellow (29) Pagid pads. I had the GD slotted rotors on my 991 and I liked them a lot for the money. Got all 4 for under $1760 delivered. 340mm front (up 22mm) and 325mm rear (up 26mm) and we shed a few pounds of unsprung weight! I realize the caliper/pad size didn’t change but the cooling should be slightly better. I will let you all know my thoughts after the next DE. I do appreciate ALL the comments. I just had to keep the cost down, especially if I want to get a GT4 in a few years. I also have a good friend in Peoria who did this exact setup and we are both similar skill drivers and he liked it a lot on his Cay S Sport! Cheers!

I can't imagine you will need more than this setup - that's a pretty rock-solid choice.

Just returned from NCM full grand course and with the GD rotors installed front and rear. WOW! What a difference in the braking. I am very happy with this setup. Total confidence now. Of course they squeal like a stuck pig on the street with yellow Pagid pads but for the track they are the bomb! Was also thinking of SS brake lines. Cayman S has 56k miles on it and I’m due a brake fluid change after this weekend’s IMS HPDE. Thoughts? TIA

I have not done these on my car, but seem like a great bang for buck upgrade. May not improve performance, but won't degrade it, and likely will provide more peace-of-mind.

It was expensive, just under usd$5k + rotors + pads + labour (unless your doing it yourself)

But the outcome for me was worth it, it’s still all oem Porsche gear and it bolted up with no spacers or custom anything.

Any it stops like like nothing else and I haven’t had a single brake issue again, well, I’ve only done 8 track days on this setup, but my oem cayman brakes were causing me grief every trackday, so this is so far maintenance free!

my pads are lasting 3-4 times longer, so are my rotors from what I can tell, and I haven’t had to bleed the brakes once yet, although I will soon, just for good measure.

if this sounds in your budget, I can post up all the part numbers. There are a couple of quirks to getting all the right parts so they work together on cayman not 911.

Could you post all the part numbers?

First off, the AP Racing J hook stuff Jeff / Essex offers is absolutely stellar for track use!

On a smaller budget and re-using the OEM all season calipers we carry Girodisc, I've personally enjoyed their rotors paired with RS-29s on my track toys-good stuff

Here are the Girodisc rotors 340mm vs 317mm front/325mm vs 298mm rear! You can use OEM pads, or a more aggressive pad

Any idea if the 996 Turbo/4S 330x34 + 330x28 + relative calipers, can be fitted on the 987?

Hi Gardus, which 987 do you have. If it's one with the 318mm stock front discs then I can help with a kit that allows you to bolt up 330 or 350mm discs.
