Default New guy with a 987.1 Cayman S

New to the forum hoping to learn as much as possible about my new to me 08 Cayman S.
Just getting used to how it performs and handles in the twisties with an eye towards some hpde events a little later.

Yessir.

Funny thing is when I put my Vin # in the Rennlist vin checker, it comes up as a 2008 Cayman S Design Edition in Carrera White. Funny because it's not a Design Edition as far as I can tell.

Congratulations!

This week is my two year anniversary with my 2006 Cayman S. Still loving it every day that I drive it. I hope you will, as well.

Thank you. So far I'm liking the car. Spent some time last week playing on a bunch of twisty roads not far from my place that I use as a yardstick for handling. Car is fun and handles great, just lacking a little downforce which I'll address later this year with a splitter, dive planes, and a wing upgrade. I'll be getting an exhaust for it before then though.

Before adding the downforce goodies you might want to do some internal mods to help your Cayman survive the HPDE fun. When we picked up our '06 CS a year ago I asked both here and over at the Cayman Register and got lots of great advice.

Mods I did before heading to the track:
  1. K&N Air Filter
  2. GT3 Brake Cooling Ducts from Suncoast Motorsport
  3. Motorsport AOS - I could only find this at Suncoast for ~ $2,000, my shop found it for ~ $800.
  4. Deep Sump oil pan
  5. Power Steering Cooler
  6. Underdrive Pully
  7. Motorsport Thermostat
  8. Braided Brake lines
Not all of this is necessary but some of it was highly recommended before track duty.

Appreciate the advice sir. I'll try one event and if i like how the car handles it, I'll probably just get another one for hpde and/or some club racing. That will be a 987.2 as I have heard they make a stronger track car. Plus I want the PDK.
The car i just bought is more for my wife to drive, hence the Tiptronic instead of manual.

Thank you
It's an easy driving car, and my wife likes driving it too, so I'll chock that down as a win. She wasn't as fond about the last 4 we had.

So I take it that "right, dipped beam" means I have either a headlight out, or a loose connection.? After a "very" spirited drive, i got that warning.

Welcome aboard. Fun ain’t it! Yeah that right dipped beam, just need a new bulb or socket which by the way if it is the socket it takes a while since they have to order it from Germany! Just fixed mine a couple of weeks ago!

So to answer my own question about the "dipped beam". I pulled the headlights out, sprayed the connections with an electronic's cleaner, reinstalled and now have fully functional headlights with no error. 10 mins work (Only because it was my 1st time removing the lights).
