981 - Tools Needed to Swap Tires for Winter?
I am hoping to get a quick sanity check on the tools needed to swap tires out on a 981 GTS (minus the jacks, etc).
1. 1/2 inch drive breaker bar
2. 1/2 inch drive torque wrench (torques to 118 ft. lb)
3. two lug bolt wheel guides to help mount
4. 19mm 1/2 inch drive socket w/ protection for lugs
Thanks for your time and help!

If you’ve got a bit of extra cash, spring for an electric impact wrench. Even a cheap Harbor Freight one will work fine for wheels. Makes taking those bolts off a lot more pleasant.
Don’t use it to install the bolts unless you also use torque sticks. But it’s fine for removal.

I was gonna mention one of the impact wrenches in my post but wanted to keep it simple. I use the Harbor Freight one, you can find them on sale for like $40 almost all the time. They work great and do make it a lot easier and faster than using a breaker bar.

I would check that socket size again. I believe my 14Cayman has 18mm lugs.
On this same note. I just bought the car and want to remove all the wheels to power wash the rims. I removed the 5 studs on the left rear and the wheel would not come off. Porsche being new to me in every way; am I missing something or is there a theft secret I'm missing. Rusted on the center? TIA David

If your an old guy like me, 77, you'll want the guide. I do with just one but otherwise it's a little of a hassle. When I was in my 50s and 60s I could change tires for AX very quickly w/o guide, no more.
Also sometimes the wheels are stuck, just drop the jack a little and they will break loose but make sure you have that guide on.

If you've got steel rotors you only need one guide. Porsche recommends using two for PCCB cars, as if you smack the ceramic rotor with the wheel while removing it, the rotor can be permanently damaged ($$$.)

Wow were they stuck on, or what. I had to use a Johnson bar to pry of the right front. I cleaned all the contact points with a wire brush then grease the three centering tabs per the owners manual. Hope I won't have the same problem again.
