Looking for best practice on using jack stands with Cayman
I have watched numerous videos, read my Porsche User Manual, and searched the internet on this topic. My 2008 Cayman seems to have 4 and only 4 places under the car that is acceptable to lift the car off the ground. These are small, reinforced circles (buttons) just behind the front wheels and just forward of the rear wheels. This presents a MAJOR challenge if you want to pull all 4 wheels at one time. Brake jobs, Brake fluid flush, etc are just two of many reasons someone may want to do this.
I have:
two floor jacks: 1-low pro jack and 1 trolley jack
4 adjustable jack stands
pair of ramps
I want to be able to lift the car and place all 4 jacks stands on the designated jack point (buttons). It is super tempting to use the floor jack in the center of the front and rear of car. Is there a safe place to do so? If not, what is the best practice for this operation?
Thanks
Ron

There is an article on P9 about how to jack the car up, which is what I basically use - see http://www.planet-9.com/reviews/serv...ck-stands.html. Some people are strongly against using anything but the 4 pads, and have purchased either special jack stands or lifting bars. I do not have any particular qualms about using other areas that are obviously capable of lifting the car. There is a rear center spot I've also used - fabspeed sells a special bracket that makes it easier to use - see http://www.fabspeed.com/porsche-987-...an-jack-point/. I'm not aware of any front center jacking spot. Generally I jack the car up from the rear jack point and put stands under the front jack point and the rear spot shown in the P9 article, then go around and do it on the other side. You need some pretty low jack stands or the car tilts too much side to side when you're jacking up the 2nd side for me to feel safe.

Here is a pretty slick option for you. No affiliation. http://www.jackpointjackstands.com/
When I did a gear oil change I discovered the support members under the transmission and then read the tip just mentioned about jacking from the rear jack point high enough to get both the front and rear up on one side. Place jack stand under front jack point and place rear jack stand under the support member. I place it at the red dot where it says Lift here.

There are several portable 2 post car lifts on the market for under $2000. Some lift a car 3 to 4 feet and you can roll them away after use.
