RPMs for daily driving
I'm loving my recently purchased '06 Cayman S with MT. I've heard it is best to drive with the revs above 3000 to help maintain a high oil temp. This higher oil temp will then have the proper viscosity and prevent engine wear. Do most agree with this philosophy? What other daily driving information/ tips can others provide to help protect the engine? Thank you all for your input.

You car has been designed and engineered to provide proper lubrication under all conditions, as long as you use an oil that matches the mfgr's specifications.

Drive at whatever RPM you want... your engine is not going to explode if you drive it longer than 5 minutes at 5000rpm.
It's not some magical contraption where: "you have to drive it in a combination of 4500rpm for 2.5 minutes then 2000rpm for exactly 1.33 minutes in order to unlock the special mode that...."
Just common things you do with any car to increase longevity:
RPMs low until oil is warm, use proper oil / oil change intervals. Revving it out every once in awhile is probably good for 2 things: your engine, and your happiness
