Default 2005 Cayenne Turbo

What major issues arise with the '05s, besides the coolant pipes, coolant T, and air suspension?

How many batteries were in the 05 Turbo, non-S? I.e., was there one in the truck?

I can't seem to find this info, thank you in advance.

Air suspension isn't really an issue. The compressor will fail after a while, but it can be rebuilt with a seal kit that's available. Coolant T is only an issue on the turbo.

One battery is standard. It's under the driver seat. There is an option for an aux battery in back. There can be 2 of the 3: Spare tire, aux battery, subwoofer.

Other issues: Cardan shaft (Jimi fix), Lower control arms, water pump, hatch struts, expansion tank, water intrusion causing electrical connection issues, a few others that don't immediately come to mind.

If you were looking for water intrusion and you had an hour or so (i.e., pre-purchase) what where would the best time be spent? What's the quickest way under the floor mat to do your due diligence on a purchase?

Copy all on compressor. Coolant T, no problem doing that work myself. Struts, water pump, same.

Thanks!

You have to lift up the driver's seat, as if you were accessing the battery (which you are doing).

Thread on the issue (lots of pics):

This would take about 4 minutes and tell you a lot about water intrusion.

-Pull the 6 plugs under the rockers/door sills (3 on each side)
-Pull the two plugs in the tailgate
-Open the rear spare tire compartment and look for signs of moisture
-Open each rear interior hatch area over the rear fenders
-Look under the backseats for signs of moisture

Another area to check is for transmission fluid leaking from the bellhousing area. This can indicate the torque converter seal is leaking. A big job even for DIY.
