Changed spark plugs tonight. A few questions
2008 Turbo.
Went super smooth, was very careful and took my sweet time and still got it done in about 90 minutes. What do you think about the plugs? No idea how many miles are on them as I bought the car used recently (it has 65k miles on it). They look pretty good to me.
(front left is front passenger of engine, back right is rear drivers of engine, etc)
Also, a few items I noticed leave me with questions:
1: Is something supposed to be attached to this nipple?
2: What, if anything, is supposed to be in this holder?
Thanks for all your input!!!

The car is a... ummm.... ??
Plugs look fine to me. A bit worn, but nice color on them. I do wonder about the Bosch Platinum - AFAIK - they've never been spec'd for the Turbo engines (but tough to really say since I don't know what year your engine is.) They have a sketchy reputation. A number of years ago there were a lot of pics on BMW websites showing ones where the center ceramic shattered. Yours look fine - and while worn - they wouldn't scare me at all.
That nipple has been asked about before - and IIRC - nothing connects to it. Probably something for another model went in the empty clip. Be good if we knew the model/year..

Surprised to see old-school plugs... lots of cars from 2000 and beyond (and even earlier in some models) use plugs with 4 ground electrodes surrounding the center electrode. Not Porche V-8s in this age range (Turbo or not)?

The plugs seem in a perfekt cond, your engine is in a good shape. The difference is, that the plugs with 1 electrode must be changed every 60'000km, the ones with 4 electrodes every 20'000km. That's the fact I know...

That sounds wrong.... the cars I've had with 4 ground electrodes had change intervals of 100,000 miles or 160,000 km. The additional ground electrodes slow-down erosion of the electrode surfaces, especially if irridium and/or platinum is used in the plug. Are you sure the change interval on the 4-electrode plugs isn't 120,000 km rather than 20,000?

The part shown is an air inlet valve - also used on the 944 series on the air/oil separator. Used to balance system pressure when vacuum builds up in the system at that point.

It's not supposed to use the 4 electrode plugs in turbo engines, this is right.
The reason is, that the combustion pressures are higher on tubo charged engines.
This higher combustion pressures can cause ceramic cracks on the plug -> this shortens the life of a 4 electrode spark plug,
and because of that higher wear you are forced to change the 4 electrode plug every 20'000kms (12'500mls).
Now you have to ask yourself if you or your turbo charged car needs this 4 electrode spark plugs.
I saw the Bosch 0 242 245 559 FGR5KQE0 or Porsche part 999 170 223 90 which can be used in CTTs too.
I'll use in the future the standard one electrode platinum Bosch 0 242 240 628
