cayenne s 4.5l 2005 pcm
hello all, i am new to this forum.
i owe 2005 cayenne s with PCM 2.1 radio system.
as i made the research for upgrading the radio functions, i understood that the best result will be by replacing it to aftermarket android radio.
the seller told me that if i have fiber optic cable, i will need to order extra adapter to convert the sound.
but when i got the radio, i contented it without the fiber optic unit and i have great sound without it. the speakers sounds good.
can anyone tell me, please, what is the fiber optic part in the system audio? do i miss something?

The "MOST" fiber ring was used in the optional Bose and Burmeser audio systems. If you didn't have the upgraded system - there was no need for the fiber link. If you did have them - coming out of the back of the old PCM unit is a plug that two orange optical fibers plug into (they're in a single plug.) In that case you'd have to use the adaptor.
Since your system is working - I think it's a non-issue.

hello and thanks for reply.
this is what is so strange......
and i can not understand it!!!!!!
my PCM unit does have optic plug. i also have a red light come from it.
doesn't it means my audio is fiber optic?
please take a look at the photo attached. this is the adapter connected to the fiber optic cable. but it does nothing. its RCA output are not connected at all and i have great sound..... how can it be?

It looks like you have the fiber optic cables plugged into the back of the new stereo. The two orange cables should be the fibers. If that is the case then your new stereo is fiber compatible and you don't need the media converter.
