Default Transsyberia rally light bar

I am acquiring a 2004 Cayenne Turbo tomorrow. I plan to use it as a winter sled, but also for some warm-season car camping and "soft-roading".

I would love to add a snorkel and light bar similar to the transsyberia model, like this...

...but I can't seem to find anything specific for the Cayenne. A search here yields nothing. Any pointers?

^^^^^ I feel you. I always wanted transsyberia light bar too. You should be able to order it through your Porsche dealer someone told me , I am sure not cheap. It's made by Hella. It requires to drill through your roof I read somewhere....little scary for me. I don't know the details. I am eagerly awaiting more replies in your thread as I would love to get one too.

Light bar including the lights is part number 955 801 153 00 and cost $2029.64 a couple years ago. Big wiring harness is 955 612 075 00 and was $400, small harness part is 955 612 076 00 and was $18; relay is part number 955 615 413 00 and was $63.94.

Considering the current lighting offerings that use LED technology which is far superior from a lighting standpoint, other than for authenticity reasons I'm not sure why you'd go with the original light bar. For $2500 you can likely get a fabricated steel bumper with skid plate with LED light bars integrated into them.

The Transiberia light bar is simply a Porsche RTS (roof transport system) bar modified to accept the Hella lights. You could easily make your own as the RTS is not expensive. (~$300)The wiring is another story and you do have to be prepared to dril a hole though the roof.

Cheers,

So, I'm in Germany this week and planned a road trip for today and tomorrow since my wife is working and I'd be on my own anyway. Had a nice visit at the BMW Museum in München before heading to the Hans-Peter Porsche TraumWerks down in Anger. I still can't believe it, but look what they had sitting in the lobby!!!!! I was able to give it an up-close-and-personal inspection. I'll be going back to the museum in the morning, so if anyone wants any additional detailed shots, post here before 9AM German time tomorrow!!!!

Is the rear facing orange scoop on the passenger side hood to allow for the snorkle?

What does the cargo area look like? Are the spare tires still back there? Is the dash and instrument cluster pretty standard?

Nice shots. Thanks

When I was a kid I drilled a hole through a roof of my first car. It's tricky to prevent the sheet metal from buckling when the bit bites as it passes through the material. I was a kid using regular metal drill bits. I'm sure there is something better.

I was not able to get any better photos of the interior, and they wouldnt open the hood for me to see how the snorkel fed the inlet.

Here are some more photos:

Detail of exterior lighting harness bulkhead connector through roof:

Steering wheel and gauge cluster, which appear essentially OEM stock to me. Note also the lightweight door cards and RSR-style door pulls:

Rear spoiler (hoping I can get one of these too, but not sure if it will fit on the '04 tailgate):

Inside shot of harness coming through roof (note: no headliner):

Another shot of the harness going thru roof:

Front mudflap attachment detail:

Front undertray:

The next day, I was able to make it back to Stuttgart in time to spend a couple of hours at the Porsche Museum. And, wouldn't you know it, they had another example there!!!

Lightbar

Scoop. Note the two clips that go over the trailing edge of the hood; the front of the scoop is attached with a single screw as shown in the pix from the Traumwerks example.

Clips for holding the snorkel

Museum placards

Yes, these are both factory rally entrants, not the tribute models sold to the public. I'm new to the Cayenne, but I wasn't aware it was ever offered in a manual????

they only offered manual transmissions in the standard v6 base cayennes and the 957 body gts. Pretty cool to see 3 pedals in a SUV like that.
