I changed my vacuum pump because I was getting the P2404 CEL. The replace went fine. After the replace I started getting the P0455 CEL. I didn't have that one before. Well, I went back in and tightened my vacuum pump bolts more because they are in awkward locations. One was nice and tight and two I could tighten a couple more turns. While checking my hoses I noticed one hose does not fit all the way on the little nipple. My question is does the hose have to fit all the way over the nipple on the vacuum pump or just to the lip? Top explain better, look at the nipple. See how the nipple is slim until it widens toward the bottom? Does the hose have to fit over that area where the nipple widens?

The photo isn't helping at all. HUGE and fuzzy isn't going to make it easier.
A few more clues like the year/model of your Cayenne might also help get an intelligent answer. Right now - with the limited information you've supplied - I just have to shrug and go "dunno.."

The vac line was fully seated covering the entire barbed fitting. Since it is a vacuum line it's not likely to blow off but it could leak.

I understand but it comes off so easily when pulled, when it is just on the barbed part. I was wondering if it had to go over the wider area towards the bottom. Looking at my pic (and I apologize for the crappy pic), starting at the tip of the nipple end and going downwards, the first part that has the shiny reflection is the area I am talking about.

Sometimes if the hose is old, the inside diameter of the hose will increase (it gets stretched out). If there is enough slack in the hose, a solution may be to cut a bit of the end of the hose off.

sjg1138, I totally understand what you are saying, but I was trying to figure out if the hose actually had to go over the wider part at the bottom (or wider lip area for a lack of better words) at the bottom of the barbed area?
