Question Considering rear 17mm wheel spacers...

So I've researched wheel spacers looking at previous posts here in Rennlist, and looking at other sources. Based on what I've learned, I think I'd like to go with the Porsche OEM rear 17mm spacer kit and leave the fronts as is.

My 2011 CTT has the 19" Turbo wheels which I like and want to stick with. I had the 21s on my 08 CTT which filled the wheel wells great, but then also a second Porsche winter set of 18s and I don't want to have to go back to swapping each season.

With my 19s, I just want to fill the wheel well a bit better. I want to stick with the Porsche OEM spacers for the 958, so that means either the rear 17mm set, or the 5mm set all the way around. I think the rear 17s is what I want.

Based on what I've read, I really shouldn't need the larger/wider fender extensions. Correct?

So, who's done this? How did it work out? Pros/cons? Anyone have pics?

TIA!

I've never had problems with spacers...
...been wondering about putting them on our Cayenne, also.

Hi Slantnose!. Hopefully someone will provide us with some further insight on spacers for the Cayenne.

Chesapeake VA....nice area, we've been passing through there on our way to and from the NC Outer Banks for decades.

I don't know how different the wheel backspacing is between your model and the 955, but I went with 25mm in the rear with stock 20 inch wheels and felt like I could have gone with even a little bit more.

Any pics of the stock 20" (9" wide assuming) with the 25mm spacers?

I will take a few tomorrow if I have time. I am going to put 20mm on the fronts soon. They are a little too tucked in for my liking as well.

I have some data to chime in here. I'm running 295s all the way around and have a 7mm spacer up front and a 17mm spacer in the rear. The wheels are pretty flush now front and back but when I can no longer turn the wheel full lock to lock as the tires rub on the plastic fenderwell pretty bad. I probably have about 3/4 of the full turning now but don't care as I don't need to move in tight quarters at slow speeds.

Truck looks great though.

My '08 GTS has spacers. They were on when I bought it. I didn't measure them when I pulled the wheels to change pads and rotors, but they are in the 17-20mm range. There is slight evidence of rubbing on the inner plastic fender when at full lock, but it is not that bad - certainly not in danger of tear through.

Here is a shot of my GTS with spacers. Sorry about the lens flare.

My 05 Turbo came with 20in design sport wheels and 17mm spacers in the rear from the factory.

Go for it. I have 17 mm spacers all around on my 957 GTS with 20" OEM Spyder wheels and all-season tires. No rubbing. Still sporty yet better damped ride than 21" and surely 22".

Thanks to everyone for the helpful info. I did some additional research with Porsche Tequipment and I've decided on the 17mm Cayenne rear set and leaving the fronts alone for my CTT. On order from Suncoast.

FWIW - I have 7mm front/15mm rear on my 958 w/ 19" Turbo wheels with no rubbing. both front and back fill the wheel well much better. Tempted to get the flares now

According to Porsche Tequipment, 17mm rear spacers on a 958 with 20" diameter wheels, the fender extensions are recommended....with 19" wheels the extensions are optional. The 17mm spacers are not recommended to be installed with the 21" wheels (all of this assumes everything is OEM).

On mine I don't plan to install the fender extensions when I add the 17mm rear spacers (19" Turbo wheels).
