Default 955 Cayenne S Brake Job DIY Question

I've read all the great posts other have put up on how to do pad and rotor replacement on the 955 series.
One thing I don't see anywhere is to loosen the brake fluid reservoir cap when retracting the pistons back into the calipers.
I have always done this on various VW\Audi cars in the past and it makes it super easy rather than fighting the hydraulics.
I always wrap a rag around the loosened cap to capture any spillage as I know how caustic brake fluid is.
Is there something different in the Cayenne brake system that precludes this procedure?
Thanks

I don't know of any reason you can't/shouldn't, but the pistons move easily enough by hand. A screw driver (if you feel is absolutely necessary) is more than sufficient.

I always loosen the master cylinder cap too. Nothing wrong with doing it

It's better to open the bleeder on each caliper to be able to retract the pistons all the way back to have space for the new thicker pads. If any debris has been pushed down the brake line toward the calipers it may come out too. Flushing the lines a little and Bleeding the brakes all the way around assures you have peak braking performance with your new pads. I put pressure, 6 psi, on the Brake Reservoir Cap to flush & bleed the brakes and the plastic Reservoir split and cracked at the seam.

Never had to do that at all, always use a piece of wood so as not to scratch them
