PPI for a CPO?

PPI for a CPO?
Just thinking out loud here but is there any good reason to get a PPI on a CPO vehicle? Isn't the CPO checklist pretty much the same thing, as well as the fact that any looming issues would likely be covered anyway?
I'm not talking about a vehicle with less than a year left on the CPO but rather something with a full 2 years or more left on the CPO.

I just purchased a CPO CTT and didn't get a PPI Was told that it wasn't needed. The car had 15k odo, paint metered for me, undercarriage pics and a full walk around was all I needed.
I got a good one with no issues.
My last car, 2001 BMW 740iL from Texas, not so good. I got a PPI on it and it pretty much came back as a new car. When the car arrived, it had 21 dents on it, and that was just the tip of the iceberg. It was a totally mess of a car and the dealer and PPI company must have been in cahoots with each other. I lambasted the PPI company, the company that the car was stored at, the dealership, now out of business and filed with American Express for the PPI cost to be refunded, which it was.
Sometimes a PPI isn't what it's cracked up to be. Best to lay eyes on the car yourself.

I bought my 14 CD at a non Porsche dealer with their own CPO label on it and took it to Porsche for a PPI. Was worth the piece of mind and great to get feedback from the service team for a mere $280.

It states that if there are signs of previous collision damage the vehicle may not be eligible for certification and to consult manual for clarification. The use of the word "may" leaves some doubt in my mind as to whether it is a total exclusion or not. The checklist does state that paint repair for dings, rock chips, etc. do not disqualify.

YES! get PPI from a 3rd party if the car is remote. After the dealer does the CPO there is every typical risk for damage, etc. This is especially true if the car has been on the lot a long time since the CPO cert.....ask me how I know....
