Default Spark Plug change

My GTS is just going through 130k kms and will be getting some maintenance.

Is there a step by step post (I searched but no joy) of replacing spark plugs and air filters for the 4.8L engine?

TIA

I dont think so......2009 was the last year of the model before they made major changes.

I believe Pelican describes the early models.

Perhaps the difference between 955, 956 and 957?

+1 Pelican.

Just a few months ago, I replaced the spark plugs on my Cayenne S 4.8L. I just followed the guide from Pelican - http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...eplacement.htm

Regards,
Christian

The spark plug and air filter replacement is very easy. I wasn't aware of the Pelican write-up but just had a quick look. Note in that write-up that the author isn't using the Porsche convention of L-R (where left side is the North American driver's side). Some tips for the 957 NA is that there are wires at the back of both banks that need to be freed a bit so that you can get the design covers off. The one on the right just has a simple black clamp that you open up to free the wire loom. The one on the left has a small screw (I think it's torx if I remember correctly) that you need to remove to be able to free the wire loom. Be very, very careful when reinstalling that screw and the coil pack screws. If you have butter fingers and one falls.....well....if you find it buy a lottery ticket! Also, when removing the plastic "bolts" that hold the Y intake pipe to the throttle body (for the air filter replacements) be very careful because the tabs will break off if you turn them too far. Dan (I don't remember the rest of his user name but he's also on the 928 subforum) has a youtube video of the waterpump replacement on his turbo. If you watch that video it will show you how to remove the Y pipe etc. so that you can have access to the air filters.

As a note, there are about 15 other articles specific to the Cayenne GTS (2008-2010) on our site too.

For future folks who may search and find this thread theres many differences between previous years and the '09 GTS although I still do not understand when it occurred?

For the spark plugs follow the Pelican steps except theres no secondary air pumps.

For the air filters fully releasing the hose clamps and spring clamps gives access.

Pics to follow.

changing the plugs is more manageable when the air filter covers are removed and would suggest doing both maintenance items at same time.

cronological; remove the engine covers, remove both air filter covers, removes coil covers, unplug and remove coils then remove the spark plugs. The passenger side also reguires removal of the engine upper strut brace, 16mm bolt/nut.
