Redline 0W40 Virgin Oil Analysis
I switched from T6 to Redline as I like that they have both a winter 0W40 and summer weight 5W40 with the same ester base stock and roughly the same additive package. I didn't want to be switching oil brands just to get a 0W for the winter, and then a heavier 40 or 50 weight in the summer. It's good to know that is has a fair amount of Si in it as this might indicate poor air filtration without this knowledge. It also has nearly 1500 ppm for Zinc and 1263 for phosphorous - a really healthy amount of anti-wear additive. And as typical for most RL engine oils - it's on the heavy side of the 40 weight category.
The other odd benefit with RL, and really any ester-based oil, is the smell. It's kind of sweet compared to regular engine oil.
Not much change in starting or sound compared to T6. Will update this thread once I put some miles on it and get a UOA.
