Default tread depth differences

We had a flat on our 08 Cayenne Turbo. The tires are Pirelli Ice&Snow, 295/35 R21, with 6/32" of tread left. If I can find a matching tire what about the difference in tread depth from new, 10-12?32", to the other three tires, 6/32"? Should I worry about this? Buy two tires for one axle?

If you're down to 6/32, your tires nearly done. Snow tires can only be worn down to 50% of the tread depth before they need replacing.

If you can find that exact tire and get it within 4/32 of the others, you will be ok. You don't want to mount a new one as that will be too big. Otherwise, have them all replaced.

Your answer is consistent with what my tire supplier says. They were saying a difference of greater than 3/32's is too much. So we will be getting four new tires this afternoon...
