Rust on Cayenne wheel bolts...
Hello Everyone!
Just wondering if you face the same issue, no matter what, rust keeps on coming on the bolts that holds the wheels?
Anyone found alternatives/trick to avoid that?
Thanks!
Gilles

I picked up a new set of black lugs nuts off a brand new 958 CS a couple years ago that the owner decided to go with aftermarket 22" wheels a week after her bought it. They have gone though two years including two brutal Western PA winters and are still nice and black.

I had my 2009 Cayenne Turbo S wheels powder coated, replaced the wheel bolts with Black, so I have an OEM set of wheel bolts in good condition - no rust. PM if interested.

Very annoying problem on such a high end car.
I used RustSeal paint. Awesome product, small brush and just paint right over the rust.
The paint comes in Silver. Highly recommend!!!

I am guessing from this thread that the 958 black lug bolts and the 955/957 silver lug bolts are interchangeable?
Assuming stock rims of various sizes and obviously no spacer?
Am I correct?

I bought a set of titanium bolts from http://www.world-motorsports.com/por...-bolt-set.html . Lots of post on the 997 forum.
I liked them so much that I ordered a set for my Cayenne. PERFECT!
Do not make my mistake. Remove a current bolt, measure it and order the correct length. I ordered the second set the same length as the 911 length. 5mm too short.

If anyone is interested, I have a proper length set of the World Motorsports Ti bolts for sale in the Marketplace. Had to change to a different bolt seat for my new wheels - used for 1,000 miles only - installed and deinstalled one time.

These will also work for 996 & 997 cars running 10-14 mm wheel spacers.

Where in France are you that wheel theft is a big problem? The keyed bolts really don't do much to stop people. A turbosocket set will defeat them all.

Locking lug bolts only inconvenience the owner of the vehicle - not the thieves. I've removed all of them from my vehicles and just use regular bolts and nuts now.

Just had to hammer on a 21mm socket onto a keyed lug to get a wheel off. No key in the trunk, nearest dealer 150 miles away.
What a brilliant farking design, make sure the owner can't remove the wheel while doing nothing to prevent theft.
