Snow tire size question...
So I've found a nice set of used snow wheels/tires locally. However they're from a newer cayenne and the aspect ratio of the tires is slightly off.
I have a '06 CTTS, these are from a '13 S. Tire Rack is calling for a 275-40-20 tire for my car, these are a 275-45-20.
Close enough to not matter or should I pass on these and order something from Tire Rack in September/October that's a direct fitment?

Speedo will be off for sure since your overall tire height will incease by over 1-inch. Not too sure if this added height will clear the snow/ice-laden fenders during winter months.

I bought a set of 19" Porsche Design wheels from ebay. I paid $109 each with shipping. They can be had pretty cheap The width is 9" and the offset is 60. They are the winter spec wheels for the 06 CTTS. I ran 20" for two winters and found them a little wide. They definitely got pushed around and felt pretty squirrely in slushy conditions. I can get a narrower tire for the 19". Will see how it goes this winter. They look like this.

Probably close enough not to matter but I would go with a smaller diameter tire and wheel. Just my opinion. I have 19" wheels for winter with 255/50r19. Of course it looks anemic compared to the summer 21" but for handling snow/cold weather 19" or smaller is way to go.

Also make sure whatever you get will clear the front brakes on your CTTS. As you probably know your front techno wheel spokes bow out to give enough room. I called the local Porsche Tech to make sure the 19" I was buying would fit. When I got them I tried them on for size and they cleared.

Yea, It took me a while to search and make sure they fit. The final confirmation was going to the parts dept of the closest dealer and the parts guy showing me the screen that shows those wheels as the ones that fit over the CTTS. 9" and offset 60. The funny thing is that I had one coming that I was willing to take a flyer on so I could actually put it on to check fitment. After going to the dealer I bought the other 3 the same guy had for sale, before the one I ordered arrived.

Snow tire size question...
For the guys running 20s with 275s in the winter, which snow tire are you using? I have a spare set of 20x9 SportDesigns that I plan to mount with snows. As has been brought up, I was a little concerned with the wide footprint and low profile of the 275/40-20 but I just assume use them rather than selling the wheels and buying a set of 18s or 19s with a 255.

I was told that the rubber is impregnated with crushed shells (possibly walnut) which helps their winter performance - not sure if this is true but they're damned good
They wear pretty well too - I assumed they would be super soft and not last so good but that just aint the case
