Bose in Cayenne.... How is it?
So how is the Bose stereo in the 955-gen Cayennes? I've had Bose stereos in GM vehicles and in Asian makes, and to be honest, they weren't very good. Some better than others. I will admit I'm a bit critical when it comes to audio quality. IMO, Bose all around is much more a marketing machine than the audiophile-grade speaker maker they want us to think they are.
Curious though if the Bose system in the Cayenne is decent. Anyone care to comment?

It is far superior to the Bose in the GM vehicles, but that isn't saying much. If it wasn't a MOST-based system, I would rip mine out and put in a proper system.

I think the word is serviceable. Even the Burmester option can stand some improvement. Not to be too negative, but factory systems rarely stand up to decent aftermarket.

just to echo these comments....its the best FACTORY system I've heard. which again that is not saying much. I think the 11 speakers is a bit overkill...the surround effect is pretty cool, but I am not sure why its necessary for car audio. It is night/day compared to the Bose system in our other car, a Yukon.
I will still be replacing mine at some point... just like at some point I am going to put daytime running lights on the front....at some point...when I get around to it...

I was surprised myself with the Bose system in my 05 CTT. About the only thing that is lacking is the subwoofer but its decent for a factory system. I think Porsche was a demanding customer towards Bose when they were making this system for our cars because it definitely doesn't sound like the Bose systems I have heard in the past.

I will echo the comments re the Bose system sounding pretty good. I had a B&O system in my Audi. Now that was a car stereo; the sound was incredible. My complaint is that I do not have HD radio, nor does SiriusXM deliver anything other than compressed audio. As a result, most everything (other than CDs and some Bluetooth audio) sounds pretty bad.

Considering the Porsche reputation and the $3K+ original cost of PCM 2.1, it's dreadful. Bose is to hi-fi as Monster is to speaker cable; mediocrity with slick marketing. And the MOST fiber optic bus also locks owners into the dark ages of phone integration even if they spend a small fortune for a Bluetooth MOST module. There's also the $300 cost for an updated map DVD plus dealer labor to reprogram.

I've got the top end system in my Turbo S - with the sub in the spare tire area - and it is so much better than the crap bose systems in GM vehicles, it is scary. Is it as good as a bang and olufsen system? No - but it is quite good.
