I lost my Unicorn. This may be my last post in the Cayenne forum.
Hi everyone, I bought my 45,000 mile, 2005 Cayenne Turbo at the beginning of December and joined the Rennlist community to learn more about my exciting purchase.
On Thursday, I started my journey from Philadelphia to Mankato, MN where I am starting college at Minnesota State University, Mankato to study Automotive Engineering.
Unfortunately, I was caught off guard by the severe weather that blasted the Great Lakes region and outside of Toledo, Ohio, my trailer was blown by gale force winds and caused me to fishtail and loose control of my Cayenne. I hit a guard rail.
I walked away without a scratch, albeit a little shaken up. My insurance company is writing it off as a complete loss. I am certain that they will cover my costs that I paid for the car, however, I can not find another one like it in the entire country. It looks like my Unicorn is gone.
I have made it to my destination and my possessions in the trailer and the trailer were not damaged.
I do have my eye on 2003-2004 Carrera C4S's now...
Be safe everyone.

I have owned Porsches of various models since I was 17. Tell you that to tell you, while I'm sure it was a diamond in the rough, there is always another one.
Glad you're safe at your destination.

Glad you're okay, and welcome to MN. There are 955 turbos available in the metro from time to time, prices all over the board. I haven't seen any with only 45K on the clock in a LONG time though. Good luck with finding another set of wheels. I can't imagine what I'd go to from my CTT.. except maybe a newer one.

Mainly, it was the low milage, one owner, and full service record history plus the sub 25k price I paid (Out the door). I am looking for another one that may check most of those boxes.

They're out there. Mine is not a Turbo, but I picked it up for $19 out the door. One owner, all records, south Florida since birth, all mx done at The Collection in Coral Gables. They're out there. Just take your time (like you did with that one likely) and don't rush to pull the trigger.

Insurance will total it, but I see plenty of opportunity there. Did they give you a buy-back price? I see a door, bumper skin, headlight and airbags (maybe something more serious under the door) . If nothing else, I'd love a spare 955 turbo engine and tranny with only 45k on the clock.

Mine was suffering from the hard downshift from 5th to 4th, I intended on addressing the issue when I was settled into the area when my school is.

Sure low miles are great all things being equal, but I'd take a 45k miles well cared for car over a 20k one w/o a service history. Maybe broaden your outlook. Often you cannot repeat your own history piece by piece.
