So I have run across a young lady trying to sell her 2005 CTT cayenne and it has the E81 power pack. Every thing works, but she did just damaged the right rear quarter panel with a gouge hitting her apartment gate......150k miles, stained rear leather seats....and missing/broken seatbelt....

New front brakes done, about 25% of tread on tires and heres the build sheet I pulled from the VIN, the power pack really interested me...

It is white exterior and tan interior.. this is a phenotypical the same image but the right rear panel is gouge up http://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/de...7568/overview/

Some really great options there. E-81, Insulated glass, sunshades, etc... But the mileage is high and the leather stains? May be able to get a shop re-dye the leather and if the fender is only a scrape? Does she have all of the records? I still think with all of that I would still low ball her an offer and see if she'll meet in the middle. The mileage will be your ally in negotiations and don't even discuss the expensive options. Records are key in a high mileage vehicle though.

i found it odd that Panoramic roof was listed as one of the options, yet has the standard sunroof in the images. Fwiw, i paid not quite 10k more for an 09gts @ 109k mi.

That's a good catch on the Roof 957GTS as I didn't even look at the pics. Now after looking at the pics I also notices the Odometer only shows 120Kmiles, not the 150K unless that was a typo above.

Looks like a really interesting car which is basically a precursor to the Turbo S. Great options too- someone really paid a lot for this car!

If there are records of maintenance and you can do a full PPI, I would consider it. At 150k, the turbos are getting a bit long in the tooth and may need a rebuild. The brakes on this power kit are pricey as well, so keep that in mind. The leather is a judgement call- you may be able buy a rear seat from a dismantler for a reasonable cost rather than attempting a repair.

I always love seeing unique Porsches such as this one. I have an 2000 C4 Cab that is loaded with Exclusive options ($45K+worth) and the fit and finish is fantastic. The cars that have a high level of Exclusive options (and the Power kit on yours certainly puts it in that category) seem to have a higher attention to build quality. Just my .02.

Last thought- I am seeing '06 CTTS for the mid to upper $20s right now with 80-100k miles. If getting this car sorted takes you into that range, it is certainly not worth it.

Pano roof, big brakes, a body repair, and an interior detail. All rather expensive liabilities in my book. Anytime I see something like a broken seat belt that was never fixed, or body damage that wasn't repaired with an insurance claim, I start thinking that there will be other neglected items to look at.

Right off the bat, you're looking at tires (1,100 mounted), a seatbelt repair (3-500), an interior detail (500), dent repair and paint (2500), and figure another 2K to cover other catchup or neglected items like tranny fluid change, control arms, cardan shaft, etc. At that mileage, those are going to be coming due pretty soon. That's over 6 grand in work you'll shelling out for to get the car close to 100%.

If she has records for all the work she's done, I'd offer 14k. If she doesn't, I would walk away or offer 11K. The only way I'd pay more would be if this car is the exact color and build list that you want. If you're not picky - I wouldn't touch it. Plenty of other higher mileage cars with impeccable histories that you could get into for under 15K with little out of pocket expenses.

I also agree with those who are saying it's worth in the 12k range given your description. There are pretty nice CTT out there for 15-16 with relatively few needs.

Thank you all so much for a brief response. I was leaning on 10-12 or 14 if she files the claim and has the body fixed. when looking online I could not see others with pano/brakes/E81 power pack.

Aside from a PPI, I really do not care too much about the stains etc, because its friggin fast as hell....This would be an occasional Friday driver etc....So time is on my side if mechanical are in line.

Yea, I'll buy it. I had a '05 Turbo but my '06CTTS is definitely faster, 70bhp claimed increase feels like it's there. With the E-81 it is loaded with a lot of options, it's really a CTTS without the door sills. As mentioned before, the positives would be Records, Test drive, PPI, options it has. Negatives would be no records, finding other faults while driving. Try to park it somewhere when it's warm then let it sit for 30min or more and then start it up. A good sign of valve stem seals. Sounds like you've already driven it though. A non NE car is almost always a bonus too as they do still get underbody component rust and/or corrosion if there driven year around, not on the body but suspension fittings, bolts, etc...

So funny interaction, my buddy just got a new gig @ the local P dealer, he's 2 days in...so i felt a little better working with a local dealer.

Talked to the service manager and he was like, "what kind of car are you looking @ etc.....before I let you waste your money on a PPI?".

I told him the scenario, he said point blank, if I pay more than 8-10k Im crazy....even with the power pack??? He just said the 04/05 are still different cars under the hood and could recommend 2006 and above.

Is this just old tactics I'm not used too since I have not worked with a dealer since 2008 or is the guy really looking out for me?

E81 gives you the added power without the expensive brakes. I would prefer this over a Turbo S I think.

E-81 package includes the 380mm brakes, bushings, ECU, Air Suspension Controller, Larger Intercoolers, etc... The E-81 was a complete package costing $19,995.
