Default Post Factory Tow Hitch Install - What's Missing?

By way of example, My Toyota Tacoma Factory installed Tow Hitch came with the Class III hitch, 7 pin wiring, oil cooler and extra transmission cooler.

A 2011 Cayenne S I am looking at came from the factory without the tow hitch. Can anyone tell me if I have the dealer install the tow hitch kit, is there anything installed at the factory, that will not be installed by the dealer? Coolers, extra 12 volt line, etc?

THANKS!!! and I did try search ;-)

My 2006 base has a factory fitted hitch, and all you get is the hitch - no additional oil or transmission coolers. It is of course wired in during the build, so I guess that explains the price tag. Maybe things were different in 2011.

Suncoast Porsche has factory hitch on sale. There are posts on how to do it. Must remove bumper. Dealer must activate system with Porsche System programmer.
My dealer said they would do it for $2600.

I paid about $2000 at my dealer. Hardware wise it's really just the hitch that gets installed plus the programming. You should already have the wires for the brake controller under your dash.

I purchased the hitch kit from Braman (Florida) for around 1100.00 shipped. I bought a 7 pin hitch plug off ebay for around 10 bucks.

I negotiated price with a MN Porsche dealer to install the parts i purchased for $465.00 total.

Since there are only two Porsche dealers in MN and owned by the same company, I would recommend a little more negotiating because they in fact will move below the 2600 they quoted.

No - tow package comes with the hitch, harness, and towing module which fits in the trunk. It's the same tow package that comes on them from the factory. No other modifications were done to the car at the factory.

Thanks I never got that far to negotiate as I ordered my 2015 S with the hitch. I got info when looking at trucks they had in stock without hitch. They were also missing other stuff I wanted so just ordered a 2015. Should be here in Dec the waiting is terrible!

If you don't own the truck yet, it may be better to keep looking for one that already has the hitch and harness installed.

I purchased the Cayenne S Saturday and I had two estimates in hand to add the tow system. The Cayenne was too good (price and condition and CPO) to not buy. https://rennlist.com/forums/porsche-...-or-newer.html Spoke with SuncoastParts today. always a pleasant conversation with them.

I have no issues installing everything. Shop time is 4.5 hours which means I will spend the better part of a day installing it and then still have to go by the dealer for their PWIS to tell the vehicle to recognize the tow system. Durametric (which I need to buy with 2 Porsches now in the stable) can't set the code/bit for this. So for me, too much lost quality time to screw with it, so over to the dealer for the install.

Install complete. No regrets having my preferred dealer do it. I kept 5.5 hours of my life for me and while they had their machines hooked up they went over the car for me both electronically visually and hands off. Clean bill of health.

I have 2004 Cayenne Turbo and have been wanting to install the towing kit to pull my 2013 Ranger boat...

My local dealer quoted me $2800. That seems outrageous or not?

Is there any place in Los Angeles are where I could buy the OEM kit and have them install? Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

I noticed you also sell kits for 2004 Cayenne Turbo. Do you know any installers in Los Angeles area who can install the kit along with all the wiring? I need the brake module with 7 pin harness for my Ranger boat trailer. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I understand a class 1 is cheap and easy.
However for the kit required to meet two rating of the vehicle require a news rear structural bar and new bumper skin.

Can somebody verify?
