Lowering Links Vs. Dealer Reprogramming "Height Value"
lowering links gauging from $100-300, pretty much non load bearing item so quality shouldn't matter too much.
but learned recently that a dealer can log into the car using the PWIS or whatever and reprogram the "height value" to lower 25-50mm
curious if anyone has gone either route and the outcome... the good thing about making "Standard" 25mm lower is that you could always ride in the +40mm high mode and that would be like the original standard.... even better the "loading" -40mm would be -65mm or lower.
i would of course have them realign it to factory spec at the new height.

Lowering links - check.
Dealer lowering with Durametric or other Factory tool - Negative.
Lowering via Techart Module - check.
Difference... links work well up until you start to lower via the links 12 to 15mm. Then the ride / dampening becomes out of sync and the cars handling just does not feel right. Set mine back to factory length and started looking for a proper module.
Techart Module - well worth every $ and the two additional height options actually are quite useful. Picked mine up off ebay from German seller for $350 used.

I've done the Durametric lowering method. I dropped the truck about two inches.
It really depends on the year model as Durametric can be finicky with certain years.
There is a good thread here: http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/c...etric-diy.html
If you are looking for the super-slammed low look, then the links are your most cost-effective method.
You will have to get an alignment if you plan on using your tires for an extended period of time.

A friend mentioned that adjusting via Durametric could lessen the life of the bag since they will be functioning at a lower height or more strain is this correct? You can actually lower each corner 2 inches? Does the ride suffer or bouncier with 22 compared to 20's?

i dont get why links would be different than adjusting "height value"... or how that differs from techart (dont they all trick the system into going lower by default) ?

The airbag will respond accordingly to whatever lowering method you use.
Most likely it will be out of its optimum operating range and ride like ****. That was the result of the 955 I lowered along with the GTS I recently bought that had links.
