Porsche Sound System Subpar

I haven't watched such a windshield be installed, but my understanding is that it is easy for them to mess up and not reconnect the antenna quite right which then means would indeed have the impact you describe as your effective antenna is much smaller which has a direct impact on your reception. We've witnessed the same thing over the years when the 996's windshield has been replaced.

Our Bose sounds really good, certainly good enough for the car....well for us anyway. The base system in the cayenne was a definite deal breaker for us hence why we painfully opted to wait the extra time by specifically ordering our cayenne with the Bose option. After listening to the base system on a few occasions prior I knew that was going to be a problem to live with. I just can't understand how Porsche could do that to a car like the cayenne. Shameful.

Perhaps on the 955/957, but mine's on the roof a few inches forward of the spoiler. That said, it's highly likely that antenna cabling runs down one or both A-pillars. And since the windshield is fitted btween the A-pillars........

One whom is bored with listening to nothing.
But I am seriously thinking about pulling the CDR23 and getting a unit with NAV, but most of all a screen for a backup camera. It is a 2006 so I am not interested in a huge investment.

Hmm, our 957 in sport mode and driven in a sporting manner has a very nice engine sound.
I"m not an audiophile but I also think that asking for superb sound in any auto a bit silly. After all, these are transport devices rather than entertainment ones. I"m not sure, given that we're dealing with 70 dB or more of distracting background noise, that real audiophile quality sound is possible.

The Bose in my 996TT is a waste of time however I don't actually find the system in my CTT to be significantly different from those found in the RRSs, X5s and Grand Cherokee SRT owned by my colleagues.
And for me music in the car is to relieve boredom not to distract me or put me into a state of kenosis.
Exactly!

After hearing all the complaining on Porsche forums re: how poor the Bose sound system is, i was expecting a pretty crappy system.
The newer (2011+) Bose Surround system in the Cayenne is pretty darn good if you ask me. I'm far from an audiophile, but i've upgraded my vehicle sound systems ever since i bought my first car at the age of 16. Prior to my CTT, i had a higher end "Dynaudio" Confidence Surround system in my Touareg 'Executive' model for comparison.
