Two questions:
1. Do you retain steering wheel controls?
2. Any cons especially how is the user interface?

Yes - you do retain the steering wheel controls. I've tested the volume control & mute buttons and they worked perfectly. I've also tested the track forward trace backward button and they worked perfectly as well.

The cons... that's a good one. This is a great unit from what I see thus far. I do see certain interface that could be improved... such as the touch screen. The touch screen response is not as good as I expected. I had to touch the screen more than once sometime for it to respond. The USB interface for music search is not great. I'm still trying to figure out how to use it better... maybe it just takes time to figure it out. There are some other quirks as well but I'll get into that later when I have some more playing time with the unit.

Thanks. It sounds like you are pretty happy with the unit.

For 800$, you get a decent unit with minor quirks versus more than 2K for a MOST adapter + trim + decent Kenwood unit (and still have minor quirks).

Exactly!!! my requirement before I did this was to make sure I still retain the OEM look. I hate the way aftermarket unit look in these cars. This is by far the perfect unit. I have one more thing I need to do before I screw it down and put the trim back. I have an OEM reverse camera that I want to integrate into this unit. I have order fraka to rca to connect video input into the unit. The other thing is to get a relay to change the postive to negative trigger so that camera pops out when transmission is put into reverse.

Are you going to look at the Android software update? I'm curious what you lose/gain with that option.

Also what speakers work with this unit on a bose system? Just front and sub or do you keep the rear doors too?

I have not had a chance to look at the Android software update yet.

You retain all speakers with the Bose system.

From the description at the J &T distributor site it appears Android works via wifi tethering. It also appears to require a USB WiFi module to be plugged into the rear of the unit. Did that come with your unit?

No... the unit does not include a USB WiFi module.

FWIW, I don't think the Porsche version is Android. The PC in the name denotes that is it a Windows CE unit.

Do you lose the use of the cd changer in the back of the car with this?

How is the start up time.....I had one in my car (not a porsche) and the unit took time to fire up...so by the time I hit reverse the unit was still booting up with the result that I had to wait for it to start up and then engage reverse to make use of the camera....it used to take about 7-8 seconds

Fortunately - my car did not come with the CD Changer option so I'm not sure. However - if I have to guess, I believe you will lose the CD Changer access. I don't see any plugs for the changer or input.

The startup time on this unit is very fast. As soon as I put the car in reverse, it switched to camera view right away.

Correction... it was explained to me by Jeff from JT Distributing that the PC in the model name stands for Porsche Cayenne... not Windows PC. However - these unit are all shipped with Windows CE. I believe the Android version is being phased out.
