Default Winter tires for GTS with 21inch wheels

My wife has an 2013GTS with summer tires. With winter approaching here in the D.C. area, we need to get some winter tires for the car. I was told my Porsche dealer that there are no Porsche approved snow or all season tires for the 21 inches so we would have to get 20inch wheels with snow tires to use during the winter. Anyone with experience with this issue?? Thanks for any help.

Dunlop makes a 20inch snow tire.

get some 18" base wheels, add snows then, they will fit over brakes as they all use same size rotors.

^what Riley said...
Or search my thread on same topic below... 255/55x18 on factory Turbo II wheels for wife's GTS is what I just got (I elected not to mess with the factory 21s...). GL

I second the Pirelli Scorpion Ice. Not a Porsche approved, but who cares, it's a XL rated tire. The 295/35-21 is $50 cheaper than the 285/35-21 for some reason. Good winter tire.

easier to swap wheel and tire for when summer comes back around...

on my aston i have the pirelli p zero nero all season for winter... they should work well unless we get ice.

I live in CT and I used 21" Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snows on our 2009 GTS and never had one problem in any winter environment including the few blizzards we've had here in the last couple of years. Great tire and I'd highly recommend.

We now have a '14 GTS and I think I'll probably buy a set of the new 21" Pirelli Winters this week.

I just put Pirelli Scorpion & Ice on my 21" turbo wheels. Haven't seen snow yet, so can't give any insights there. Tires very quiet... Like them so far.

I went back and forth on buying smaller rims and tires, but decided to stick with the 21" year round and just swap tires out.

Running on Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow on 20's for my 3rd winter so far. Great long-lasting tire (unusual for Pirelli) with fantastic grip on ice & snow. The Scorpion 20's are Porsche N1 rated.

Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow, according to the Tire Rack website it's your only choice. I may be getting a set myself.

I bought the Scorpions with 18" winter wheels and can do the tire change in my garage. The 18" are more forgiving with potholes etc in the winter.

I swap my summers for 21inch Pirelli ice and snows for my 2014 CTTS. Used them on my 2013 turbo last year and was very satisfied. I drive back and forth ny to Florida several times a season. The tires are quiet and give grip in wet or dry. Just threw a set of 275 50R 20 ice and snow on my new G as well. Again quiet and nice ride.
