Coolant T Crapola

I picked up my parts this morning. It took me 4 hours to remove the Ts and adjoining hoses and put in the new Ts and hoses. Holy crap, talk about no room. Without the coolant pipes out, there is no room from the top. The lower hose had to be accessed from below next to the cat. IF the cat was removed there would have been a great deal more room making it relatively easy. My right hand and arm are pretty bruised up and I have skinny wrists and arms.
Moral of the story. Do the Ts when the coolant pipes are done! Should have it finished tomorrow.

I have one clue, but since he mentioned cats in they way I wonder if it would have been better to use aluminum t pipes. Exhaust heat is maybe causing them to fail?

I don't know what may accelerate the T going. Mine lasted 112,000 miles. I will measure how far the T is from the cat. I am thinking about 6 inches. A metal T would be better I think. It is a weird size and there was nothing in my town that would have worked. The hoses to the T come clamped on from the factory so the bands would have to be cut, a metal piece machined and the hoses put back on.

the small one that keeps failing is a 10 - 8 - 10 mm T piece (or 8-10-8 hmmm), I had mine custom made, looks like this: http://www.pumpen-peters.de/products...2C-Luft/5/176/
you can actually source them from anybody who works on coffee vending machines, they are full of those.

That metal T looks good. The T is about 6-7 inched above the cat. Here is a pic of the octopus. The picture is looking at it from perspective of the back of the engine. It is a pic of the old pieces as I didn't remember to take a pic of the new bits. It broke right under one of the pressed on bands.

Should replace everything that could go wrong since you're tearing apart most of the stuff up to just to change the pipes. Replacement with aluminium or brass or stainless would be the best option on these T's. That way you'll have a more worry free system down the road.

Embarrassing that, after being in there three times, I did not put 2 and 2 together and notice that the two T's are one on top of the other!
I've gotta think up an excuse for that lapse...
I'll start with, "Things feel different than they look."
