Default Resetting the "service now" manually

I have searched google and renn list on this topic. There of course are a bunch of folks who say you can reset manually like on most other makes. I have tried the described technique and like many other posts, it doesn't work on my 2006. Is the following post correct?

(I have no idea what PST2 or PIWIS is)

The Service Reminder can be reset with the Durametric Software (about $247) or by any shop (or owner) with a PST2 or PIWIS.

+1 ^^^

I used Durametric last weekend to reset after an oil change (2013 CD). The Durametric has the ability to reset any of the service reminders -- oil, intermediate, and service.

PST2:

which was replaced by PIWIS:

They are diagnostic computers supplied by PAG for their dealers to service and update electronics.

PS - The Evil Dr. W. decreed that the 'reset maintenance idiot light' feature be disabled with a software "upgrade." Previously, you could reset by holding the trip odo for 10 seconds with the ignition in position 1.

Has anyone found a Smartphone app connected to an OBD2 reader, that will reset the oil reminder or service due messages?

You can use this one also. Make sure that you get this one and not the earlier version. I don't think it does nearly as much as the Durametric but if all you need to do is turn off the service reminder

Amazon.com: iCarsoft POR-II Porsche OBD-II Scanner Tool i960-II NEW version: Automotive Amazon.com: iCarsoft POR-II Porsche OBD-II Scanner Tool i960-II NEW version: Automotive

Also-Pedro is selling the IDENTICAL piece for $250.00. It is the exact same item Amazon sells for $191.00

It will do MUCH more then that, (as much or more then the Durametric, I own both) and it comes with your choice of 5 auto brands diagnostics software to download.

You might google it too - it may be available for less then Amazon offers it for. I ordered one from Hong Kong via Ebay - it arrived in less then 48 hours from when I placed my order.

Also any shop with a Snap-On Verus Pro (huge touchscreen scantool) AND the european car package AND the latest software (15.x I think) can do it.
