Default LED License Plate Bulbs

Okay well I changed my burnt out bulbs for the license plate lamps...get some LED's, correct size, off Amazon. Get them installed and turn the car on...NOTHING still an error in the center gauge, every light other than the bulbs are on. Anything specifically I need to do?

Re-set something?

Blown fuse, is that possible for such a small light source?

Please help, mechanically/technologically inclined.

Just bought a pair of Autocheck compatible bulbs off Ebay and plugged the them both in and no luck. I'm like what the H@#L. Swapped them both end for end and they both worked fine. I remember reading that most of the LED swapout lights have a Polarity that you need to get right, not the same as a regular 12vdc bulb that can go either way, a one way Diode is kind of how a LED works.

You probably have a polarity issue. Try turning the bulbs the other way when you re-insert them. Do this before you put it all back together to make sure they work.

The first set of bulbs I got gave an error message that the bulb was burned out even though they were working. The dealer gave me a new and improved set that mostly corrected this issue with the diode. Hopefully you got the newer LEDs.

Sorry for the delay...I've actually purchased a set of normal bulbs from autozone, none LED. They don't work either. I'm afraid it is the actual system that is broke. Or a fuse, I haven't looked much into it.

So what fuse would control the license plate lamps? I do not have my manual

Some older LED will give errors. If you have those...not much to do.
But most probably as the other guys mentioned just swap them, turn them.It will most likely solve the issue.

Porscheprestige, it is not LED's that are my issue. I originally thought that, but even traditional bulbs do not work. I've twisted them a number of times and cleaned the units very well. I think my light housings are shot, the wiring is fried and a fuse is blown, not the bulbs.

I'll look in my manual in a few min., I need to make some adjustments to the PCM nav system anyway.

I would be surprised if the LP lights aren't on the same circuit as the rear tail lights though. Porsche has surprised me before though...

Edit: Well, seems the '06 doesn't have a license plate bulb fuse, at least they don't mention it in the owner's manual. Time to get out the test probe, and don't forget there are fuse panels on both sides of the dash panel (driver's side & passenger side).

Have fun. (I read through the fuse listings 3 times too)

Williamr91 did you ever get to bottom of the problem?

I have a 2004 Cayenne 3.2 and have a number plate light error, changed bulbs..nothing
it seems like there's no power...any thoughts or ideas?

I can also confirm that there is no listing for a fuse related to the license plate lights... not in the owner's manual anyhow. I couldn't get mine to work either, then I cleaned the contacts up. That fixed it for me.
