Post Cayenne Photos - What do you think?

http://www.donrosencomp.com/porsche/cayenne/cayenne.htm

I think it looks quite nice in these shots. Another one in Auto Motor Und Sport looked really awful - like a 996 turbo front-end was morphed onto an Audi A4. It drew a number of angry letters from German readers saying Porsche had "done" a Ford Scorpio (The last incarnation of that European car was considered to be the height of ugliness in Germany)

Best wishes

Im'too from Switzerland but this car is absolutly horrible!!!! I think Porsche is going in the wrong direction. If this car is for the USA-Market i think it's ok, but for the Euopean Market i think Porsche will never sell one piece!!!
Absoluter Schwachsinn dieses Auto!!!!

We seem to have many Porsche drivers from or living in Switzerland who have joined us in recent months. I suggest we debate the various subject found here in person over a beer or two. In a place convenient for all. All invited included wives and children if they drive their own Porsches along,
Ciao,

I live in Basel but am very mobile.

Since you're in Suisse Romande & I want to look at a supercharged 964 down there in the near future I suggest your neck of the woods is better.

Mail me offline for us to arrange this:

I think it's a pleasant enough shape for what it is. Kind of a rounded off BMW X5. Looks like it's headed for the middle ground of hybrid moreso than pure SUV.

'Umm, that's not helping much...

It looks like that they are trying to make it look too much like the 996 in the front, the side panals scream Honda, and rear looks like a KIA!

I will have an opportunity on the 6th of February to actually see, feel, and hopefully drive the new Cayenne at the dealer preview in Ca.

Interest in this new Porsche has been increasing weekly now for over a month and our first 2 months allocation of 16 are all presold. Looks like they will do about 10% in the Turbo version and the V6 is not coming out until PAG designs their own motor. IT WILL NOT have the VW motor as some have speculated.

What are they trying to achieve with that ridiculous spare tire hump on the rear end?!? It's hideous! The rest is tolerable but to make the back end (which is what most other vehicles will no doubt be looking at as it blasts past towards it's next rollover) look like this is inexcusable! Either hang a MonsterGumboMudder out back with pride or hide it inside like good taste dictates. Shame on you Porsche... shame.

I agree, that hump on the back end looks like a bad case of oteoporosis. Get rid of it immediately (or I hope that photo is inaccurate!)

Can't blame Porsche for going after what it figures is good profit. Being the first non-sports car, I wonder if the service support is going to be okay for the Cayenne.

Porsche is building a brand new customer support center employing many new jobs alongside the cayanne. Either they expect the buyer will be a complete pain in the butt, the SUV will suck or they simply want to be the best at everything they do. (prob. number #3, but could be wrong)

About time they put a real motor in a Porsche <img src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" border="0" alt="[hiha]" />

Im honeslty very curious to see what similarities there are to the last generation 928 engine in the GTS.

928 guy

Yeah Tony all us 928 guys are waiting to see what new goodies we can take from this new package. I wonder if it can be shoe horned in as is???

As far as the wheel hump or any other design issues of the SUV, I'm sure Porsche will poll the owners of the SUV's on a number of issues concerning the first batch and make changes accordingly. All us folk who're just whining and complaining and not putting up any dough for this vehicle can go sit and spin. hehheh
