Cayenne S or Grand Cherokee SRT8?

It is very true and very sad that some people judge you negatively for driving a Porsche. I have a nicely optioned V6 and get that same attitude. If I rolled up in a GMC Denali at the same price nobody would bat an eye.

wow old thread
I drove the new 2014 jeep Laredo Limited 4X4 with pentastar 3.6.. actually a great SUV for
$400/month lease..lol a friend bought one, brought me to ask my opinion , I actually like it, rides like
the ML350 with 4X4 capability. pretty loaded car with 8 speed transmission from germany..same ZF they used in Mercedes?
the new diesel is made in Italy, same line as the Maserati Ghibli.. i gotta say its a great SUV for the price.
I didnt drive the SRT8 though, so cant say much about that.. but the SRT8 is in the CTT level as far as perfomance.not sure about everything else

The jeep is very good. The ride and handling balance is very nice. The torque is quite wonderful. Furthermore the added cargo space is superior.
However there are some interior bits that looked cheap and the leather was not as nice. The steering is nowhere near the porsches.
I think i would have one over a v6 cayenne for the same money today.
I have a Cayenne S.

I assume a Cayenne would eat up that test. Especially with all the handling options in place and air suspension. My GTS is totally flat in the corners no matter how hard I've pushed it so far. Including just the right amount of over steer.

In my SUV experience, over many years, we had 5 Range Rover, 2 Grand Cherokee and one Cayenne (S Tit. Ed, with air suspension, now over 100'000 miles with it, and ..it still look and feel like when it was brand new).
The Cayenne S, is by FAR the best SUV that we ever had.
And, ..the two Grand Cherokee are by far the worst car we ever had.
We got the second one as we got an incredible deal, and felt we were unlucky with the first one, but, all the talks were BS the second was no better than the first one.
The brakes (they do not really brake, but I think we should call "that" speed reducers) start to fade (and pulses like crazy) every 12'000 miles (new rotors needed). Ok, the tires last "for ever" (about 50 to 60'000 miles), but, the suspension is such that you get the feel that the car is constantly making small jumps, instead of rolling smoothly!
I think this help to save the tires, and for sure, the brakes of this car will never hurt the tires !
Well, for comfort and safety, the Cayenne is another world.
Still, for memory, the Range Rover (generation 1, ..well before the term SUV was invented, was a fabulous car. I did tow, I did long drives (across Europe), went to crazy places in the sand, in the mud, in the grass, in the snow, it was a fantastic car. (We had 3 of these, and two generation 2).
I also did 1'500 miles in the desert, in dry rivers and other crazy places (in Oman) renting a Toyota Land Cruiser. Ugly look, but fantastic car. So if you do not car about the look of a car, the LC is at the top for the rest.
