Yeah, she used it while her 957 was in the shop for engine repairs. But since I saw that the left turbo is cracked on the turbine side and leaking oil into exhaust, I retired it even from her DD duties.
I fired three people recently and we both took their respective company cars - hers is a hyundai i30 (elantra gt in the US) with a 1.6l turbodiesel pushing out a whooping 136hp with a 7 speed dual clutch gearbox and I drive a skoda octavia with a 2.0l tdi with 170hp and a 6sp manual transmission. Needless to say, we cut our fuel costs by 70% :-)))

Since the lease is nearly up on the skoda I drive nowadays, I had my indy do a compression check, leakdown check etc. before I pour more money into my blue TTS.
Two cylinders 6 and 8 are completely fcuked. Scoring is evident and there are multiple metal particles caught on the filter.
Soooo, this is the beginning of a new era ;-) I'm looking into iron sleeves and 5.1L conversion. Didn't find anyone doing it locally in Europe so I might source an engine in the US, have it done at some reputable shop and ship it back here. Will definitely take even more time than before since I have other projects going on ... I'll probably just buy a 958 TTS for DD and keep playing with this one.

Sorry to hear about the bad news, but at least it sounds like you're better able to deal with this than most of us. Good luck.
And BTW, very smart to do the quick tests before diving in with the big modifications.

Geez. Have you considered using a zinc additive to help with more lubrication? After the increased reports we have been seeing over the years I am considering using it in my CTT. Thankfully it rarely sees temps below 20F. I already have a case of the additive for my classic vehicles that require it for their top ends.

I'm only at 100% on my '04 S, with the replacement done (Porsche crate engine) before I owned it.
I'm similarly looking for ways to avoid this in the future. The Mobil1 0w40 I use has pretty high Zinc, and I just bought some of that Liqui Moly Ceratec yesterday - not installed yet though. I'd always prefer to avoid a problem rather than fix it ... if possible.
