Ok I am quickly growing tired of my Escalade and looking for something new. I have a 911 4s Cab, just bought my wife a MB 550GL and looking for something for my everyday driver. Has to have room for 5 and hockey equipment in the back. I thought I'd come to the experts for some advice. Sale me!

Based on your requirements, I'd worry about about space. The Cayenne is much smaller than an Escalade. You can certainly fit 5 people in it, but it's fairly tight. The luggage space is adequate most of the time, but not huge. I'd look at one and see what you think before getting too far down this road...

If the size is sufficient for your needs, you'll find that it drives very differently than an Escalade. It's much tighter, much more like driving a car than a truck. There's really no comparison...

Looking for a much different drive. I'm tired of the "truck" feel. As for space, believe it or not the Escalade is horrible. I have to put the back seats down or take them out just to put gear in. If we're heading to a tournament with gear AND suit cases, you have to take one or both back seats out. You cant't even a medium sized roller bag in the back with the seats in.

As Dennis notes, size would be your issue. Other than that, it is a GREAT driving truck! On my third!

The Cayenne is commonly referred to as an "overgrown" station wagon. This holds true when it comes to seating space and cargo space.Your best bet is to try one out and see if it suits your needs prior to purchasing.

When in Vegas last year, I rented an Escalade for a day and was very happy to return it...

I agree, having enough room would be the only issue, although it's more than adequate for me. As for the driving experience, especially with the available handling tweaks, no other SUV (as well as many sedans) can compare with it.

there is space for 5 "regular" sized ppl
it will not seat 3 200lbs adult in the back
kids sure.
trunk is good size but not HUGE.
driving experience? NOTHING in the SUV category can touch it. zero, nada..... (assuming off road serious rock climbing isn't your thing)

P!g: square peg in a round hole, especially in this application.
Space, there is no substitute...and the P!g doesn't have enough.

A diesel Q7 might be just right...

It's about 10-inches longer than a Cayenne and has noticeably more space. A friend of mine just bought one and it's nice. Obviously you don't have to go diesel, but that would be my choice.

Space will be your biggest bissue Two adults or three kids in the back is fine for long trips but you will be limited by trunk space. The Cayenne rides great and it is more manageable garage space and parking wise than an Escalade.

Agreed. My wife and I looked at the Cayenne, Q7, and Touareg a few years ago. The Q7 was MUCH better on size and space.
