Slow transmision response?
Here's the scenario: my '11 CS is in sport mode and I go full throttle to get around another car, accelerate out of a turn, just enjoy the rush, whatever. I've now gone though a gear or two and I let up on the accelerator. Instead of immediately backing off into a higher gear and letting the revs drop, the sport algorithm decides that it still wants to be in an aggressive mode keeping me in the lower gear and the revs high. Sometimes it can take 2 or 3 seconds for the transmission to decide to "relax" and upshift and it holds on to the lower gear long enough that I feel the need to upshift manually. To me this response seems slower than it should be and makes me wonder if a software upgrade or other adjustment is required. Has anyone else experienced this?

Won't argue that point in general, but will say that the PDK in my Carrera is much quicker to respond than the Tip in the Cayenne. It's also invariably in the right gear for a given situation. The fact that PDK is so good may be part of the reason why the few shortcomings of the Tip are so obvious and annoying to me.

Mine behaves the same way, but I don't understand why a downshift using the steering wheel controls will only hold for a bit before an automatic upshift, but a downshift using the gearshift (console) will hold forever...
One would assume they would function alike. Perplexing p!g.

Edit 5 minutes later: Answer occured to me as I settled into the driver's seat. The steering paddles execute a temporary override while the main console gearshift is still in D, so after a few seconds the tranny reverts to Drive mode. But in order to downshift with the console lever you have to actually flick it left into Manual position which is why it won't upshift again on it's own.

Yes - this is actually "the feature" that is in question here. Given the way our P!Gs shift on their own this feature is actually our only saving grace as it allows a quick, temporary down/up shift when you want it...

Never noticed this Mike. Perhaps a little calibration needed for the software. Will test it out when I drive mine this weekend and see if I can duplicate this on mine.

Your transmission issue is not unique to you. Add me to that list too. Exact response felt by me during an extended spirited drive at various speeds.
