2009 Cayenne - ipod connection cable
My newly-purchased 09 GTS has PCM 3.0 and option UF1 - universal audio interface. There are three connections factory installed in the center console - one is a mini-RCA jack (similar to the headphone connection at the top of an ipod), a USB port, and a third port labeled "ipod" which is a round multi-pin port.
I assume the mini-RCA jack, when used, just gets a sound signal, and you control via the buttons on the ipod.
The USB port gets you connected and allows control of the ipod through the nav touchscreen and steering wheel buttons, but it's not very user friendly.
I don't have a cable that matches up to the round multi-pin connector labeled "ipod". Where can I get this cable, and does it allow in interface that's different from the USB connection (i.e. more user friendly)?
I did search for this topic but all the posts were 2006 and older.
Thanks.

The cable came with my 2009 when purchased new. You can probably pick it up at Suncoast or your local Porsche dealer. It does make for a better user interface vs. the USB / mini Ipod connections. When connected, your playlists, etc all appear on the NAV screen.

Sounds like you need the same y-cable that came with the UAI in my '09 Carrera. As novat_99 says, it should give you the control and interface you're looking for and should be readily available.

Nice, thanks guys, I had a feeling that round connector would offer better control. Just ordered it from suncoast, and threw in a set of clear corners for my GTS as well!

Here in the US our front side markers are orange from the factory.....these will look better on my meteor gray GTS. Pretty common mod.

Got the cable and the interface when using this is light-years better than the USB cable alone. Thanks guys.
