Default PCM display

I’m sure this has covered before but I was unable to find much results doing a search.

I have a 2005 Cayenne Turbo and the PCM display is to the point of being unusable. So I’m just looking for options. Is there a fix to the issue? After doing some research it seems that it’s a known issue and it’s a cable problem. Can anyone point me to some instructions on how to repair this?

I would like to install an aftermarket stereo one that would have CD/DVD/Satellite/Navi. I don’t really mind losing the steering wheel controls or losing the instrument cluster display options. However I would like to be able to use current wiring to antennas speakers etc.

I understand that Cayenne uses a MOST bus connection but it’s my understanding that it only connects to the CD changer and Navi system (which I don’t mind giving up) how difficult is a aftermarket head unit to install?

TIA

It also connects to the amplifier. What about your unit is unusable? I would personally consider getting another PCM unit off ebay or off this list than to yank everything out.

Thanks, yes I would want to keep the amp connections. Of course in the past I’ve had cars where a harness kit was available to take care of this.

It’s just the LCD screen that’s going out; mostly it’s just a blank white screen.

Thanks that does help, and I have found the replacement display on ebay for $235. Seems like the least expensive option.

DO you have the part number for the screen. My screen went out as well and I have no problem doing the work myself but I do not know what screen to order.

Thanks

Most of the new aftermarket units now support steering wheel controls, so if you decide to go that way, you'll still have a fully functional wheel. Kenwood and Pioneer both have some good options.
