Default Air suspension will not rise on right front (blown Airbag)

I had the car lowered when doing the coolant pipe swap. When done I tried to raise it and all but the right front came up. It makes a hissing sound for a bit, then displays a suspension error msg on the dash.

Does this mean I have a blown air bag? I'll be taking off the wheel later to take a closer look.

most likely yes but the result should have been both sides down since that large an airloss should have kept the nose down all together. Any error codes available ?

you did not hear a bang ?

This begs the question..... What is the service life of the air suspension?
Are they like standard springs/shocks where the shocks needs replacing after XXk miles?

Air suspension will never last as long as the standard springs/shocks

No bang, and no code displayed.
Just the one wheel did not come up and hisses when tried.
I sure hope it's just a hose.

OK there were manufacturing problems with airstruts in MY 03/04, not many but some. On mine I suffered a catastophic failure (bang) and then no front suspension at all.

Another common problem is the failure of one of the 2 compressors, there is a VW rebuild kit available and a DIY somehwhere. Its behind the passenger side sill trim. There have been many reports of this, I also had that one go on me way back when.

Maybe you need a dealer to take a look.

Default it's the airbag :(

Took off the wheel and found that the airgab was sliced by the aluminum housing that somehow broke and then sliced the rubber.
Looking at the part s I'm not sure if I need the whole assembly (part 1), or just the rubber airbag and aluminum housing (parts 7 and 13).

Any suggestions on how to remove the airbag, and then if it is servicable by a shade tree mechanic like me.

Default Strut tool needed 18mm

I need to order a strut R&R tool. The top of the air strut has a 18mm nut and an oval-ish shaft instead of a hex. Problem is I can not find an 18mm offset or cut-out socked. Anyone help with Cayenne tool part or location to order.

I need the opposite of this tool since this is the shape of the top of the airstrut.
If I can get a small socket then I can use my 1/2 inch 18mm spark plug socket with a wrench on the outer top.

Or this one I found online, but it does not indicate if the big socket is 18mm. I've only run across 22mm

How much is the new air spring going to cost? Do you have to buy the whole unit or can you get replacement parts for it?

If you're trying to get the tool from Snap-On in a hurry call your local indie mechanic and ask him for the phone # to the local Snap-On truck and they'll come right to your house. Been there done that.

I think it was around $560 for the airbag. I purchased item 4,6,7,8(comes with 9),10,12,13,14 for about $750

Local european shop placed the order through local Porsche dealer. Was a lower price than I could find online.
