Default 2004 Cayenne COIL BOOTS

2004 cayenne with 77,000 miles. i have a rough idle and would think that it is cracked coils. i have found just the boots for sale but would i need the entire coil setup? has anyone just changed the boots before? If so do they just unscrew or what?

thanks guys!!!!!

I got a rough idle and the CEL turned on for my 2004 (67k miles). Though it only warned for one coil, when I opened it up and had a look all of them were cracked. It's usually not IF but WHEN the original coils crack. If you haven't replaced them, I'd say replace them all when you're at it (and sparkplugs at the same time, as it takes perhaps 10 minutes extra). If you replace just one / a few, I can bet you'll be replacing another in a few months anyway.

There are some threads with pictures on how to do this on the forum, it's not very hard to do yourself. Good luck

I recently replaced the coils and plugs on my 2004 CS with 50Kmi. All the coils were cracked and the plug electrodes looked very thin.

Do you and your CS a favor...replace the coils and plugs. There was a substantial improvement in performance and once I stopped mashing the go pedal there was a 1.5mpg increase.

With avearge mechanical skills you could follow the rennlist posts and get the job done in 2 to 3 hours.
