Default Here's your front end clunking

spent two days under the p!g to cure the crunching and clunking. did oil service, pads, rotors, sensors, brake flush, lower control arms (rear bushings cracked both sides), wheel bearings ,rebuilt axles ,alignment and front diff flush. All the crunch crunchy and clunky clunky noises are gone. Turns out the axles were bad. the bearings were done as a while i'm in here and never want to be here again. except now i think its time for ANOTHER cardan shaft as the knocking under the truck is starting again under hard accel. The saga continues......

I just hit 66k but I have know that they were tearing since 60k... Rubber parts dont last long here in Arizona with nice weather we have here....An I work the suspension a lot taking it off-roading with my Jeep friends...

All weather here on the east coast and no off roading. i think they just crap vw parts... please dont get me started or tell me the percentage of vw content . i know i know.

+1 I replaced two sets of control arms on my wife's Audi S4 in the 8 years we owned it.

I'm at 66k and had the fronts replaced back around 35k due to clunking noise.

I'm getting a squeaking noise when going over speed bumps that require extended suspension travel. I suspect it is probably one of the wonderful bushing going south like the torsion bar bushings on 911s.

I'm seriously thinking of getting this thing and ditching the P!g. It'll be easier on the pocketbook and probably appreciate over time

I am getting a clunk occasionally when turning the car at low speed. It doesn't seem to have a pattern when it will occur. Is that what you were experiencing?

the clunking was more shifting into drive or reverse with foot on the brake. you could feel the weight shift on the bushing and make noise. The crunching was coming from the from wheels mostly while turning at low speeds like in a parking lot. Thats the CV's in the axles starting to go.

I hear ya. I have until 12/23/12.
Been experiencing some niggly stuff:
1. The Jacking Point Cover in front of the rear wheel on the side skirt (****) fell off and of course I drove over it. Covered.
2. Retainer strap for Gas Cap broke. Covered.
3. The red cover for the Panic button on the fob fell off. Covered (New fob )
I'm glad I went back and picked up the skirt cover -- without it, it wouldn't be covered.

Scott, my Dad had one of those Wagoneers for about 2 years. It was brand new when he sold it because he had replaced every mechanical part in it at least once when he sold it!

Yeah. I'm driving it a lot more during these sweltering summer days just trying to "encourage" them to go sooner rather than later.

Helps that gas prices are down a little.
