Default Search yields little so far

Pelican sells the filter for 99.00 # 955-620-841-00
My fear is that it's an in or on the tank device which may suck to access.
Flange type of install
We need to find out where it is.
Someone here must know?

First KEY OFF and OUT of ignition!!! Or the fuel pump WILL prime the system and it makes a HUGE mess inside.....The Filter is outside the tank on the Driver's side( been a while since I replaced mine) you have to fold the bottom of the rear seat up to gain access to the under seat floor carpet. You will see a very faint circle that is cut in the carpet. Remove that and then you will see a black plate with 4 10mm nuts, remove and there is the top of the fuel filter. A coupleof quick disconnections and turn the sealing ring.. You WILL need a NEW o-ring that should come with the fuel filter kit.... I would hope... If I am wrong on what side that the filter is on the Passenger side comes apart the same way, you just have to remove the center seat belt bracket...
Good luck its pretty easy to do just make sure that you have a fan and ALL the windows are down and doors open because the fuel smell is OVERWHELLMING!!!!

Many thanks, I was pretty sure it was not it the tank and believe it is on the drivers side. Dealer wanted somewhere around $450-$650 to replace so I thought maybe it's in a non dyi location. So many thanks for that info!!! I did see the pelican part, is it truly OEM?

If you are trying this yourself, try to get some pictures of the process and post here. I would be interested in some photos of the procedure as well

OK, did some digging today. It is on the passenger side. I could see a faint hint of a aluminum circle cap, and when I dug my hand under the carpet, I felt one of the nuts (LOL, that sounded funny). Had to remove what I know now is my Sirius Radio module first (2 star screws). I could see a faint perforation in the carpet every 2 inches, cut in a circle pattern.

Carl, did you have to literally make cuts in the carpet to complete the circle? Also I do see the center seat belt bracket maybe in the way of removing the aluminum cap and/or filter or not?
The bolts for the center seat belt are some type of 12 point star (security star), does anyone know what size and what that type is called? Have to buy one (or a set). Also it seemed that the four nuts to release the cap to gain access have loctite on them, did you have to re-apply?

I will post DIY post with pictures when I do this, waiting on the filter and now I know I need the 12 point socket (unknown)

Just order:

1) Fuel filter: 955-620-841-00-M100

http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/...84100-M100.jpg

2) Sealing ring, flange: 95520113301-M100

http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/...13301-M100.jpg
I hope this is the o-ring that CDH-CTT was referring to. And the only one needed.

Now all that is left is to find out the size of that 12 point socket to remove the center seat belt, anyone?

C4SJOHN,

I replaced mine ONLY because there was a very strong fuel smell outside the car, and it turns out the tank o-ring was leaking.... and that was at like 50k miles. it's the ONLY fuel filter in the system so if you drive a lot or might think you have a problem with some crappy fuel then change it. Its more a piece of mind thing one less thing on the service list to ...

Default are we sure?

Are we sure it's on the passenger side?
I looked at mine and see the same carpet cut outs on the drivers side.
Remember, with no pics, "it didn't happen"
Please take pics when you do it.
Thanks

Thanks for the info and confirmation Carl. Should have it by Tuesday, and then I would guess the weekend the latest and will get pictures up.

Thats weird Barry... I wonder if there is a difference between an CS or CTT or CTTS in terms of where they placed it, I would not think it would be cost effective for them to switch things around?

Barry,

Yes there is the SAME cut out on the other side also since the fuel tank is a "saddle style" it has to be able to pump fuel from one side to the other. SO on the drivers has the the fuel pump and the the filter on top of it and the passenger side has another fuel pump that feeds the engine. If I recall i think under WOT it uses BOTH fuel pumps and under normal driving it just uses the one... but the transfer pumps are always cycling fuel in the tank. Hope this helps..

madburg,

Good luck, its pretty easy it just makes you sick from the smell of raw fuel so make sure that you have a fan pushing the air out...
