Well... I tightened the gas cap... and... voila! The CEL is gone.

I would offer to show my wife the proper way to tighten a gas cap, but I think she would hit me if I did.

As a side note, my new daily driver (09 Ford Escape Hybrid...replaced the 06 Hybrid) actually does not have a gas cap.

So....you're 'hoping' it was just the gas cap again, correct ?

I like it! How does the Escape do on mileage? I would assume it's pretty good for a small SUV...

And yes, I am hoping once again that it was the gas cap. It was getting boring with the Cayenne anyway - I hadn't needed a service call in so long I was beginning to feel like I still owned my Honda...

Well, it's nice and cool here... overcast... perfect weather to wash the 996... so I'm headed out to do that right now.

1836 miles so far, averaging 35.9mpg (its only rated for 31/29....you learn pretty quickly how to hyper mile in a hybrid....Im' still learning); 505 mile range on a tank of gas.

Pretty neat little car. Sync by Microsoft (voice activated everything...media, phone, nav), USB and analog AUX inputs, hard disk drive for storing music in the headunit, touchscreen, not a bad daily driver.
Got it in time before the hybrid tax credit is phased out.

Changing the oil was all that was needed in my case.

How often do you change the oil on your Pepper?

I did mine at 7,500 the first time. I'd love to figure out the time/distance the system thinks it should be done and split that in half. I think the oils today are easily good enough for 10 - 12k between changes, just not so sure about 15 - 20K.

The 993, that's a whole 'nother issue!

I've been changing it every 15K miles.

The last change was at 10K.

I my case Dennis C the sensor I think has passed. It's only 70 bucks times 2. My lite came on at the track and I change my oil every 4k to 4.5k so it can't be that. In my case I think it is busted.

P0344 on a cayenne? That one has nothing to do with an oil change, just a bad sensor, really should pull the intake to change it. You dont have to, but you wind up looking like you put your hand in a garbage disposal after changing the sensor with the intake on.

My mistake. I thought we were still talking about the codes I posted earlier in this thread. I think it was P0011 that was causing my problem, which was: "A" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance. The oil change helped with that one. I suppose the reasoning was that dirty oil caused a problem for the sensor that checks the camshaft position.

the p0011 is for timing over advanced, when the oil gets dirty the vario cam is slow to respond to acuation and return, this casues the timing over advanced faults 99 out of 100 a oil chnage is all they need

Well I tackled it with the intake on just removed the "porsche" valve cover plates and the air pump in the passanger side . While i was back there I just replaced both so now I have an extra if one happens to go again.
