Default I'll take it all back...

"Based on my read of the Cayenne Maintenance & Repair string, one can safely assume that reliability on the Cayenne, may just be a crap shoot. Some people get lucky, most others aren't. At least that's my take away...and if you still need one, I'll sell you mine...all the known "soft spots" have been replaced such as drive shaft, cooling pipes, LED display...misc items falling off such as the passenger side mirror, the rear windshield wiper blade and have new tires, brakes and rotors."

OK, we have had the car about 8 months...and 15,000 miles. It has really grown on me/us....love the performance (acceleration) and handling. Driving the car is a blast, and the Tiptronic 6 speed, great close ratio gears. I'd love a new one for Bluetooth and some other modern incites, such as a Back Up Camera.

On the 2011 Turbo... bought with 58,000 miles on it. Currently 63,000 miles. No unexpected repairs. I did end up with a fairly major repair (R&R of the engine, cylinder heads) due to a mishap when the Porsche dealer was doing WC-22 at my expense. Luckily the major repair required was at their expense. Other than that - tires is about it. Everything works nicely, including the Pano roof.

I have the same issue on my rear bumper, the SS plate is delaminating, how did you repair?

Curious to hear on how much did each repair cost? (looking at 2008 CTT with 115k miles) Trying to figure out what to expect as far as repair budget.

Default You mean there's another way?

Up through from below. I had bought a set of seven off an '08 just in case. The ones I removed weren't burned out, but the newer ones seem better engineered, so I replaced them as I went. The heat and modulated air conditioning feel good.

Nasty job.

Update: 21 March, 2018
Heat and air worked well all winter after a recharge in November.

Just had Valve Cover Assembly done at 128k. The engine was misfiring/running rough. Thought it might be a coil pack issue but those were replaced at around 114k. Other minor items addressed: ashtray stuck, new battery under driver's seat, defroster issue and a couple of headlight bulbs.

I thought the 958 eliminated the transfer case. Assuming I'm wrong, what symptoms did you have?

The 958 no longer has the two speed transfer case but still uses a transfer case to shift power between the diffs. As for symptoms,

Adding the repair items for my 2008 Cayenne S (approx. 130,000 miles now):
1. Replaced engine cooling pipes (leaking)
2. Replaced all ignition coils (misfire)
3. Replaced high-pressure fuel pump (rough idling)
4. Replaced oil separator and engine gaskets (sticky start)
5. Replaced driveshaft (vibrating)
6. Replace drive belt (cracked)
7. Replaced catalytic converter bank 1 (failed)
8. Replaced starter (failed to start)
9. Replaced rear center brake light (intermittent failure)

Not a very great reliability record IMHO.

My 958 CTT does not seem to be doing what the ones in the other post are doing but I don't have PTV either. I'm getting a slight slip occasionally that seems like it's in the transmission.

Default Replaced Transfer Case to Fix Uneven/Slipping 2nd-3rd-4th Gears Shifting

I just had my transfer case replaced and a new vent line installed on my 2012 Cayenne S at 52k under CPO ....They first tried to address this via a software update, but it didn't solve the problem. The SA told me that this has been an increasing issue on the 12's, caused by precipitation getting into the transfer case from the vent line which causes the slipping (which is worse when the car is warm). They replaced the transfer and installed the new vent line which apparently is now located ABOVE the case to avoid any water/precipitation entering the transfer case. Here is the thread on the discussion that I posted with the symptoms and the resolution last week:

https://rennlist.com/forums/porsche-...cayenne-s.html

I got it back on Friday and it's working perfectly ('cause I've been beating on it all weekend ). And here a pic of the write up from the P Dealer (Loeber Porsche in Lincolnwood, IL) who were really great on this CPO work
