I saw mention of another site at a thread here at RL. It's a site dedicated to compiling data on all modern cars and trucks such as MPG and reliability. You contribute data and get to access the compiled data for your and other vehicles.

I 'registered' the Cayenne but got a note saying that currently there aren't enough Cayenne's registered to make a meaningful reliability report. I figure to mention it here in hopes that others will register and post their experiences there.

While threads like this are somewhat useful, since the data isn't compiled, it's difficult to access and determine patterns of failure or places we need to keep an eye on.

Here's the site:

I've used True Delta on my last two cars. It's good stuff, they send out email reminders.

Repair list in 14 monts of ownership to date includes:
1) replace fuel vapor vent solenoid and line (check engine light)
2) thermostat, housing, and coolant tubes (check engine light)
3) braided stainless hydraulic line to sway bar controller (rubbed on frame and burst)

Each of these repair incidents have resulted in loss of use for a full week due to parts needing to be ordered.

I have not been real impressed with this vehicle from a reliability stand point. This is the first import I have ever owned. When a cheap domestic vehicle built by union labor is more dependable (I didn't think that was possible), it makes me really sad. Other than these problems though, it is a wonderful automobile.

Just wondering about the engine light I have a red 08 gts as well and they can not figure out what this code p0455 is ive changed the gas cap, done a smoke test, and also replaced the leak detection pump light came on before I got home. Thanks

How did you get Porsche to help in a repair cost to the coolant manifold failure? I had this and both a thermostat and thermostat housing failure and replacing all those plastic hoses to metal ones. 2008

Just purchased a 2009 Base model with 69k. Both myself and previous owner purchased as Porsche Approved. 3 total owners, all records as it was always serviced by the same dealer. Here's the records totalling 15k, several items were done under warranty like the Homelink, Headlights, Horn, leak on floor which prevented starting and Cardan shaft.

Overall compared to the many BMW's I've owned I think this car is on par or has required less work. We'll see as time tells. I'm a serious DIY'er, lift in my garage to prove it so I expect my running costs to be a fraction of the previous owners.

Despite this really good care the spark plugs and drive belt were never changed, those are first on my list and will cost less than $100. I'm sure out the door from the dealer would be $400.

I bought my 2005 CS this year and it has over 119k. Good car. I had repaired since this quarter of the year:

Motor mounts replaced
Valve cover gaskets replaced

the motor mounts stopped the engine shudder at when I would come to an idle.

I did get a small warranty with the car 6 months 6k miles or something like that. The warranty paid for the above. It's a drive train type.

Now another noise that wasn't there before they "fixed" the other noise has appeared. Gee if they could have just fixed it without adding this enhancement. . Well I guess it's back to the warranty again.

Hello All.

I own a 2004 Cayenne S, since 2010. Bought it from Jose from Spain while working there. Since then it has been here in Finland enjoying fresh weather

2010-1 Changing brakefluids, powersteeringfluid, transmission and engine oil 115000 km
2011-5 ABS warning light. Was a bearing problem. had both front bearing replaced. 700 Eur.Replaced front discs and pads. They did not charge any extra of this, due to bearing change. I brought the parts...The rear discs have brake pad alarm, but they looked good... Normal oil changes at the dealer
2012-4 Had a windshield shop change the cracked windshield It was under insurance, so I could have had Porsche do it. Well, the windshield works fine, the rain detector not so... Well, it hardly ever rains that little anyway.
2013-9 I went to pickup some pizza, and when I was returning to car, I noticed it was still running... I had the keys on my pocket. It just would not stop. I pulled the battery cable and it just runs. I had to get some torx keys to Access fuel pump relay to get it shut down. Then I had it towed to nearest Porsche maintenance, 230 miles. The reason was some weard electrical problem with tow hatch wires leaking voltage to can. Go figure. Repllaced the wires 1000 eur
2014-2 Rear wiper plastic cover replaced 40 eur We hot glued this on Place, so that it does not come of at car wahs again... I like washing my car, but in the winter there is no other possibility than car wash machine.
2014-7 Airbag warning light came on
2014-8 Got ridiculous 3000 eur quote from Porche maintenance to change oils, filters and plugs(motor, transmission, reardif, frontdif) Decided to start working on my Cayenne, since I have built my Mustang for 20 year, cant be that complicated???
2014-9 Passenger side wiper does not wipe, while detaching it, managed to drop a small piece somewhere, never found it. Need to order replacement...
Changed to winter tyres.
2014-10 Changed motor oil, filter and the rear discs and pads, 2h, 0 EUR labor cost 190187 km
2014-10 Bought myself a Durometric.

Just brought my 13 Cayenne GTS to JD Porsche in NJ for warranty repair on the Sport Mode button and some other little things and I was expecting a decent loaner for the day especially since snow is due in the area...I received a VW Passat...so disappointed. Was hoping for maybe a 2015 Cayenne to try out to see how it rides for my near future purchase. Who loans out basic vehicles like that at a high end dealership...? Does this happen to many people? When I would service my Range Rover I would get a high end loaner or something at least comparable...

2006 S with 109,000 miles on it. Just replaced the both differentials and the spark plugs. Did replace the transmission fluid last week along with the torque convertor seal.
Cost about 780 to do the differential and the plugs along with the fluids and the plugs cost.
Cost about 1300 to replace the torque convertor seal. They said it was the labour as it took them so long and had to remove the transmission to do it.

2009 GTS - purchased 11/2014 with 64K miles.

2014/12: Roof drain hose repair - under my auto insurance comprehensive
2014/12: 4 wheel Alignment

I also like to ask everyone's opinion is it worth to purchase an extended warranty? My GTS still eligible for an extended warranty offer from the factory for additional 36M or 36K miles with below quote. I average 5~6k miles per year. I noticed my bottom oil pan gasket will need to replace soon as it is slowly leaking and had my mechanic friend tighten up for me for now.

Power Train warranty: $4800 (only covers engine, drive train and axles)
Preferred warranty: $8800 (mechanical and electrical)
Comprehensive warranty: $9300 (bumper to bumper)
